I have a business background which helps me aid businesses from formation through expansion and even franchising. Most lawyers do not have the practical business experience that I have accumulated over my career. I do not just place agreements and restructure your business based off of the law, I incorporate your operating procedures and work around the hurdles you face on a daily basis so your business will run more efficiently.. I also enjoy handling personal injury cases. I have had some family members go through tragic events prior to me becoming an attorney and I could not stand the treatment they recieved from the insurance companies. I was also not pleased with the communication with our attorney! That was part of the reason I became an attorney; I feel like communicaiton is my biggest strength, you will always get an immediate response from me.. Litigation is a long and painful process. No one wants to be involved in a lawsuit, but a lot of times it is necessary to use the justice system to correct a wrong. I love being in the Courtroom and I am always willing to take your case the distance.
I handle family and criminal matters on the Front Range and across the State of Colorado. Prior to joining Kalamaya Goscha in 2022, I gained experience at several other law firms specializing in family law and dependency and neglect matters. I graduated from the University of Colorado Law School in 2020 with a JD and Graduate Certificate in Juvenile and Family Law. I am passionate about advocating for people in crisis, which is often the case with litigants in divorce and custody disputes as well as criminal defendants. In dependency and neglect proceedings I have served as both Respondent Parent Counsel and as a Guardian ad litem for minor children, as well as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children. Having filled various roles in the court system, I have a well-rounded perspective and appreciation for the best interests of children and the constitutional rights of litigants in family and criminal matters. I actively serve on the Colorado Women's Bar Association Public Policy Committee and previously served on the Colorado Mandatory Reporting Task Force advocating for positive change to Colorado policies affecting children and families.
I grew up in Wyoming and eventually left country life for big city life for law school in San Diego, California. I completed a number of internships which included working at the Arapahoe District Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Denver District Court where I interned for Judge Michael A. Martinez. Before starting my own practice, I worked as a law clerk/paralegal for Kennedy, Childs, & Fogg where I assisted in medical malpractice defense litigation. I graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. After clerking in the Colorado Court of Appeals for a year, I became a prosecutor in Colorado’s 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. I spent most of my nearly 20 years there prosecuting persons crimes, i.e. crimes where a person was victimized, such as assault, robbery, sexual assault, child abuse, and murder. I spent nearly 10 of those years prosecuting crimes against children. I can say, unequivocally, that I am one of the most experienced trial lawyers in Colorado.. I began my private practice career in 2015 at Gutterman Griffiths (later Griffiths Law). On November 1, 2020, two of my former partners at that firm and I opened a new law firm, WZW Family Law LLC. We brought two associates, four support staff, and five full caseloads with us into our new (ad)venture.. As a family law attorney, it's been my privilege to deal with some of the most complex and interesting assets out there, including stock options, restricted stock units, other deferred compensation, a private equity fund, partnerships in national and international accounting firms, thousands of acres of farm and ranch land, an aviation business, real estate and restaurant development businesses, law firms, law suit proceeds, medical practices, and a whole host of different kinds of trusts. My clients have ranged from “captains of industry” to stay-at-home spouses.. Because of my focus on persons crimes, I spent nearly every day working with victims of violent and traumatizing crimes, who were under enormous emotional stress when they met with me. My clients, and my colleagues, have told me that they value my ability to be calm in the face of emotional upheaval.. I became involved in Collaborative Divorce early on in my private practice career. I became qualified to handle collaborative divorce cases before I’d been a family law attorney for a year, joined the Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals (CCDP) shortly thereafter, became a Board Member for the organization in late 2016, served as its Executive Vice President in 2017, and President in 2018.. My background and experience are rare in the family law bar. Very few lawyers spend nearly every day of their career in court. No collaborative divorce attorney in the state has the trial background and skills that I have.. I bring all of my abilities to bear in everything I do for clients, from negotiating and settling cases to presenting evidence and making argument in a courtroom.
I focus on my client's individual needs and goals, because each client is different and has his or her own perspective. In my spare time I love to travel and spend time with my family and friends. I try to take nothing for granted and focus on the good things in life.
I enjoy helping people through transitions, and witnessing a renewal in their lives. I’m always amazed how resilient some folks are when faced with overwhelming circumstances or uncertain environments. My goal at the end of the first meeting is to leave people with a sense of control and an understanding of their options. No two cases are ever alike, so each day on the job provides a new challenge. My wife and I raise six children so I also understand the challenges families face in balancing their budget.. Choosing the right attorney is an important task, and often boils down to comfort and trust. I encourage you to contact our office. I eliminate the hourly billing structure whenever possible to encourage communication without the pressure of time-sensitive billing.

My philosophy is that an injured individual should never have to pay unreasonably high legal fees to receive high quality legal representation. I pride myself in communicating with my clients and making sure that they can always contact me and know what's going on with their cases.
