I was the first in my family to graduate from college. I married my high school sweetheart at 19. Today, we have two adult sons and two grand-dogs, and are still married after nearly 40 years.. For the last 30-something years, I have served as a legal advocate - first as a government lawyer representing the State of Florida and, more recently, as a defense attorney representing those accused and convicted of crimes. I was born in Temple, Texas to two wonderful parents. As the son of a military chaplain, I traveled with my family in my younger years and grew up in Orlando, Florida. I was born in Orlando and am a second generation attorney.  I graduated from Presbyterian College in 1979 and went on to attend to obtain my law degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. I became Board Certified in Workers' Compensation in 1990 and have remained Board Certified since that time. Tom DeLattre became my law partner in 2007. I have worked for Finra, a financial regulator; LeClairRyan; and the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia. I have been recognized as a Technology Litigation Fellow by the Center for Legal and Court Technology, in Williamsburg, Virginia and was selected to participate in the Center’s annual lab trial.  I focus on corporate law and estate planning for the small business owner.. During my time at Finra, I worked in Registration and Disclosure, developing policies relating to past criminal sanctions, as well as assisting in decisions regarding expungment of customer complaints against registered brokers.  While at LeClairRyan, I assisted in the representation of a Community Association against a developer and worked to develop litigation strategies.  I also examined tax and school law issues.  At the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia, I worked with an underserved population and assisted clients in estate planning, and protection from debt collectors.  I also advised clients on property matters and uncontested divorces.  I worked for the National Center for State Courts, a non-governmental policy organization, helping to establish a guidebook for judicial election and campaign oversight.. I have lived in Florida since I was 2 years old.  First in Miami, then West Palm Beach, and now I make Orlando my home with my family..
