Our family has lived in the Prescott area for 8 years now and we enjoy being part of this hometown community.  My wife Lisa and I have been married for over 20 years and enjoy family time with our three children. Lisa grew up in the Northern California area and graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Oregon while I grew up in Southern California in Granada Hills.  We met when I attended Law School at the University of California, Davis after being a Wolverine at the University of Michigan for my undergraduate years.. Now as a Arizona resident, I enjoy the Arizona Diamondbacks and have become a fan unless they are playing against the team of my youth, the Dodgers.  Our kids are involved in sports so I volunteer as well including being a referee for AYSO soccer and coaching or assisting in Little League.  We enjoy hiking, attending church events as a family and playing games such as Cities and Knights.  We enjoy traveling whether on mission trips, visiting family or exploring the outdoors in the Tahoe area.

I love preparing wills and trusts to solve the practical problems that come when a person passes away. My wills and trusts are, as much as possible, in plain language that can be read by you and your personal representative or successor trustee. Most initial consultations for wills and trusts are at no charge. I can then quote you a flat fee after taking a look at what you have and talking with you about what you want.. I also handle contract matters, business law and probate matters. Our office is in Prescott, Arizona.. I grew up in southern Arizona near Nogales. I am a proud Sun Devil, a Wildcat, and most importantly, a husband to my sweetheart and a dad to our children. Until my kids leave for college, my family is my hobby. I love reading and hiking. I coached youth soccer teams for about eight years; I took a break in 2019..

I enjoy recreation and travel with my family, hikes in the forest, trail running with my dogs, watching football and basketball games, mountain biking, reading both fiction and non-fiction, and volunteering for some charitable organizations that I admire.. Our law firm enjoys helping people who need our help with injury and death claims and the many unexpected issues that arise.  We enjoy developing strong and lasting relationships with our new clients. We take particular pride in using our expertise in connection with personal injury recovery liens (Medicare, AHCCCS/Medicaid, ERISA, Medical Provider, workers compensation and other rights of recovery and/or liens against the injured person's settlement, award or judgment) to obtain lawful discounts in the amount owed. We usually do not charge our clients anything additional for this lien reduction legal work.. We also enjoy getting good results for our clients in the few cases that cannot be resolved by settlement.  For example, in October of 2010, we obtained a jury verdict for $655,000 for an elderly woman injured by a negligent driver while walking in a crosswalk. The other driver offered only $15,000 to settle. Her lawyer asked the jury at the end of the trial to award only $110,000 despite our client having over $200,000 in medical expenses.. In another case, we represented a 94 yr. old man with Alzheimer's disease who was swindled by his granddaughter and her husband out of his life savings. At trial, we proved that 11 bank accounts were used to create confusion as to where the money went, but we proved to the jury that over $400,000 was taken. The jury verdict included our legal fees, taking the total to $560,000.

I am an Arizona native and have practiced law since 1997. I moved back to Prescott, Arizona over seven years ago and opened my own firm after practicing in New York for almost four years with Kindlon Shanks and Associates in upstate New York. In New York, my practice was primarily focused on felony criminal defense, with an emphasis on assisting New Yorkers with various Second Amendment rights issues. I also handled a wide array of administrative matters and a limited number of select personal injury cases. I previously worked as a prosecutor for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, the City of Phoenix Prosecutor's Office, and the Yavapai County Attorney's Office for over twelve years prosecuting almost every type of felony, misdemeanor and traffic offense. I represented the City of Phoenix before the Arizona Liquor Board for four years. Prior to becoming an attorney, I conducted financial investigations for six years for the Arizona Office of the Attorney General and then the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. I believe my combination of experiences as a defense attorney, civil and administrative practitioner, prosecutor, and investigator provide me with invaluable insights to assist my clients with their cases. I appreciate that even the most trivial case may have far reaching implications and is of the utmost importance to my clients' lives and livelihood. I look forward to meeting you and assisting with your legal issue.

I draw on a lifetime of experiences and education to find commonality with the concerns and needs of the parties to enable me to empower them with the ability to collectively decide the how the situation should be resolved.. When managing others or subordinates, I garner respect by working with those whom I manage to enforce the fact that I do understand their positions and more importantly, their organizational value. Multifaceted and intelligent, I understand that one person cannot do everything but a good executive and manager should know how to do everything. His litigation practice spans over most all areas of law. And he will only advance a case he genuinely believes is well supported by law.  When he makes the decision to undertake a case he will aggressively pursue his clients’ goals. His practice includes preparing and presenting cases at the trial level and representing clients on appeal. Of course, if during any stage of a legal proceeding an opportunity for a reasonable settlement appears he will orchestrate a result to the complete satisfaction of his clients. The primary goal is to accomplish the clients’ desired result; however, equally important is the clients’ being fully informed about their case and having confidence their best interests are being served. He appears in both state and federal trial and appeal courts.. The business and transactional components of Mr. Wilhelmsen’s practice involves counseling and advising a broad spectrum of business men and women from the purchase or formation of their businesses, though their operation and eventual sale or winding up. His real estate practice involves both litigation and transactions where he provides a full range of services in sale and lease transactions in both the commercial and residential represents owners, lenders, borrowers, developers, and real estate professionals in assisting with all their real estate needs. His practice areas include ownership disputes, title disputes, boundary disputes, foreclosures, construction disputes, partition actions and easements.. Mr. Wilhelmsen’s practice also emphasizes probates and wills, and trusts and estates, having practiced in these areas for most his career. This includes building an estate plan from inception to meet the goals of the client. Simplicity and cost efficiency are the primary objectives in selecting between the range of estate planning vehicles available to his clients. And should death occur he stands ready to implement his clients’ wishes through a probate proceeding or trust administration while remaining sensitive to his clients’ desires and the family’s grief.. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court of Arizona. He received a B.A. from University of Arizona in 1978 and his J.D. from Arizona State University in 1981.

Arizona doesn't have the most water of all the states which is why Arizonans have become the most inovative users of water around.  My legal practice is devoted to encouraging and finding ways for that innovation to flourish.  I'm from Arizona and from an early age playing in the San Pedro river I learned how special water in Arizona is. Since then I've made it a point to visit as many of our natural water sources as possible; because i like to think about how different areas have confronted their water challenges, and because I just like to play in water.. I've spent more than a decade thinking about water as my profession.  It is with profound honor and respect for the necessity of continued sustainability that I am able to guide cities, businesses, communities, and individuals through the legal framework governing the most precious commodity we have in the desert.
