In a collaborative divorce, each party has an attorney, and often the parties share a team of neutral, collaborative professionals in the areas that apply to their case - like finance and parenting - to make well educated decisions about their future. To have a collaborative divorce, both parties must agree to participate in the process, to disclose all relevant information, and to retain an attorney with the required training. If your spouse is not represented by a collaborative attorney, settlement is still possible through mediation or through more traditional negotiation.. If you and your spouse choose to resolve your marital problems through the process of mediation, your mediator will be a neutral who cannot provide you with legal advice or protect your individual interests.  I can represent you in this process to make sure you understand the law and make good decisions.  Alternatively, I am able to serve in the role of the neutral mediator.. If a fair settlement is not possible, I am prepared to advocate for you to the judge. I have spoken as a panelist on the topic of family law at the 2016 Fall Conference & 35th Anniversary Celebration of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association and at a 2012 seminar presented by the Virginia Pro Bono Law Center. I received my training certificate from the Collaborative Practice Training Institute in 2018 and I am a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia, and Virginia Collaborative Professionals. I am a member of the family law sections of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Fairfax Bar Association. I am also a member of the Arlington Bar Association.

Ms. Taylor is a native of Northern Virginia and is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in History. Prior to law school, she lived in Japan and taught English as a Second Language at a private international school. Upon returning to the States, she became a paralegal, dealing mainly with bankruptcy and personal injury cases. This sparked her interest in a legal career helping clients start over, with the hope of creating new futures despite their past circumstances and experiences.. She received her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law, where she was a Notes Editor for the GMU Civil Rights Law Journal and also served as the National Youth Justice Alliance Coordinator for the VBA Pro Bono Society. During her time at Mason, she also participated in the Domestic Relations Externship & Clinic, assisting pro se litigants in obtaining uncontested divorces.. After graduation she served for two years as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Penney S. Azcarate of the Circuit Court of Fairfax County. During her clerkship, she spent a significant amount of time working on domestic matters, which reinforced her desire to practice family law.. Currently, she is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the George Mason American Inn of Court. She is also an active member of Fairfax Bar Association, where she is a part of the Family Law Section and also serves as a Board Member of the Young Lawyers Section. Additionally, she serves as the Notes Editor for the National Lawyers Guild Review.

Ms. Skiba-Rokosky has been licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2006, and has been practicing family law the entire time.  Even prior to beginning law school, she worked in family law, serving as a paralegal for a small law office in Massachusetts.  Throughout her legal career, Kimberly has dedicated herself to providing zealous representation for, and outstanding customer service to, her family law and estate clients.
