My practice focuses on family law, mediation and personal injury lawsuits.  As a Los Angeles local having grown up in the San Fernando Valley, I have practiced primarily in the Los Angeles area.  I'm very familiar and experienced with the intricacies of this very peculiar and challenging legal market.. My primary focus is family law.  I am a passionate, seasoned and a rising force in the field.  I have experience in all aspects of family law and have dealt with all types of clients from all different backgrounds. I pride myself on establishing the personal experience which is often missing in today’s legal environment.  I strongly believe that a personalized, individually tailored strategy is critical to an aggressive and successful advocacy for a family law client.. My approach is strong, aggressive, and knowledgeable when obtaining my client’s rights, but I am also mindful of some of my client’s limited resources. As such, I am vigilant to not waste time. As such, my representation is best described as aggressive, judicious, efficient and effective.. I also have a great deal of experience in the field of personal injury. When dealing with a personal injury matter, I maintain the same dogged determination and aggressive advocacy thus ensuring that the client’s rights are respected to the fullest extent possible.. In addition to advocacy, I have experience in being a neutral; working patiently while being knowledgeable and effective. My goal in each and every mediation is assisting the clients in obtaining an equitable agreement in which both clients are satisfied to the fullest extent possible.. Education

Trisha Lewia Henegar graduated cum laude from Middle Tennessee State University in 1991.  She graduated from Nashville School of Law in 1995 and has been providing legal services to Southern Middle Tennessee for 25 years focusing on Family Law, Criminal Defense, Probate/Wills and Personal Injury.

Paul Rutherford is an Attorney at Brighter Day Law and has been in the private practice of law in Nashville and the surrounding counties for 32 years. The Rutherford family has a long history in the Nashville legal community, dating back to the 1800s.. As a veteran trial and appellate attorney, he’s spent his career serving clients in family law, adoption, probate, General Sessions, and personal injury matters. Paul has taken a specific interest in cases involving early adoption as he’s witnessed how achieving permanency can dramatically altered the lives of the children. Paul has always been passionate about child welfare, the right to life, and the prevention of human trafficking.. After graduating from college, Paul began working as a social worker with his wife, and fellow veteran attorney, Wende Rutherford for an adolescent psychiatric hospital and the Tennessee Department of Human Services. Paul’s background in counseling and psychology has aided in his desire to resolve cases efficiently and civility. Paul was elected to the Student Honor Council while a senior in law school and earned his Juris Doctor at the Nashville School of Law in 1990.. Paul joined the team at Brighter Day Law with the opening of the Nashville office in April 2022 because of his admiration for the firm’s systems and values. He enjoys the supportive and professional office environment and the high-quality legal representation the firm provides for its clients.. In his spare time, Paul volunteers with Corner-to-Corner Ministry, FreshStart Resources, Best Buddies, Decisions, Choices and Options, and Midtown Fellowship Church. Paul also enjoys playing golf, traveling, cooking, and supporting his favorite team, the Tennessee Titans.. Fun fact: Paul once beat a World Champion pool player at 8-ball, and he had the opportunity to play Minnesota Fats, but was soundly beaten. His youngest son has just started law school to carry on the family legal tradition.

K.O. Herston was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he was on the editorial board of the Tennessee Law Review. He quickly fell in love with East Tennessee and decided to make his home in Knoxville. He has been practicing law in Knoxville for 18 years.. Before his knees started refusing to cooperate, K.O. was an avid endurance athlete who raced in five marathons, including those in New York City, Los Angeles, and Paris (France). He also raced in numerous triathlons, including a Half-Ironman and twice in the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships. Now he enjoys mountain biking all over East Tennessee, boating on Norris Lake in the summer, photography, and hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.. K.O. is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed Family Law Mediator. He is a member (Master of the Bench) of the Hamilton Burnett Chapter of the American Inns of Court.  He served for eight years on the Board of Directors of the Sexual Assault Center of East Tennessee, including a year as its President. He presents annual “Family Law Update” continuing legal education seminars to lawyers across Tennessee. He speaks to professional organizations and trade groups whenever possible. In July, 2012, he was selected by Knoxville’s CityView Magazine as a “Top Attorney” in the categories of Family Law, Divorce, and Child Support. He is also trained in collaborative divorce..
