My family was pretty poor. My dad died when I was just 9 years old. When I got into the 10 grade, I got into a program that allowed me to work half a day and go to class the other half. When I graduated from high school in 1974, I went to work in a local sawmill. After that, I got a better job in a small oil refinery. I worked there until April 1976, and on the 19th day of April I went to work for DuPont Chemical.. I worked the next twenty years for Dupont. After working there for 13 plus years, I started going to college classes at night. On December of 1995, I graduated in the top of the class with a 3.95 GPA.. I started law school in August 1996, and graduated in February of 1999. Upon graduation, my wife and I threw a dart at a map and ended up here. Central Texas is my home. I love it here and I intend to retire here.. I became a lawyer to help people solve some of the most difficult and personal situations they have ever had to deal with. I respect everyone, and I treat people fair. I ask you to trust me to be honest with you, to assist you and your family to the best of my ability, in your time of need

Practicing law since 2005, I now devote most of my practice to helping families resolve conflict out of court. Many of my clients are faced with either divorce or legal issues that sometimes follow divorce. And while family conflict of any form is immensely difficult, I strive to help my clients clearly identify and assess the major legal issues that can be hidden amidst broken relationships. In every case, I teach my clients practical conflict resolution skills for the issues they face now and those that lie in the road ahead. And as often as I'm able, I steer them toward client-driven processes that help to both minimize exposure to unnecessary conflict and facilitate creative, custom-tailored solutions within safe and confidential processes outside of the courthouse.. Over the last few years, I've also acquired a great deal of experience handling proceedings to clarify and enforce the division of federal retirement benefits (both military and federal civil service), representing both retirees and former spouses. This is an area of family law that often presents complex issues due to the ever-present tension between federal law, which controls these federal retirement benefits, and state law, which controls the division of marital property.. My practice areas include divorce, collaborative law, mediation, adoption, division of retirement benefits, wills and probate.

To tell you a word or two about myself: I was born and raised in San Antonio. I am licensed by the Texas Supreme Court and I ensure that people in the community have a fair and honest legal representation. My law firm, Espronceda Law, PLLC, handles a variety of cases, including family law, business law, oil and gas and criminal defense. In addition to representing people in many types of legal matters, I teach the next generation of legal minds at the Institute for Law and Public Affairs at the University of Texas in San Antonio (UTSA). I received my undergraduate degree with honors from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and my law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Having worked for a large, global law firm following graduation, I deliver business “know-how” with a results-oriented style that provides clients and colleagues with vision, creativity and leadership. Prior to graduating from law school, I was selected for a judicial internship in the Southern District of Texas where I worked for the Honorable George P. Kazen. I also care deeply about running. No matter how busy I get, I set aside time to get in a workout. Some of my best ideas for trying a case come during my runs.

I love being a family law attorney. I have extensive experience with most family law issues ranging from divorces, child custody disputes, child support disputes, and adoptions. Because of my successful results many of my clients have been referrals from previous satisfied clients. I am originally from El Paso, Texas and I am the youngest son of Mexican immigrants. I first came to San Antonio in 2004 to attend university and graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law. During my time at St. Mary’s, I volunteered as a student attorney helping indigent clients in family matters. This is when I became passionate about family law. I saw the hardships and injustices many people go through during a divorce or in suits involving children. It was these experiences that inspired me to pursue a career in family law. As a devoted husband and proud father, I know just how personal and stressful family law issues can be. That is why I fight for each of my clients to get the best possible results. I am also an adjunct professor at Our Lady of the Lake University teaching mock trials. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and playing the guitar.
As a native Texan who loves all things Texas, I love helping our community with their legal matters. I travel across the state helping others and seeing this great land that I call home. I also have the wonderful experience of assisting clients that reside out-of-state, but that have legal concerns here in Texas.. It is always my goal to make this often difficult process as easy and painless for the client as possible. I give my cell phone number out to clients along with all the other methods with which they may use to contact me.. Athough I love the courtroom, I realize this is not always the best answer for my clients, so I use my skills as a licensed mediator to assist them in the negotiation process. This very often results in a settlement agreement which they are happy with becuase they had a part to play in the process.
