When I first meet a client, he or she is often coming to me at the most vulnerable time in their lives. The client may be overwhelmed, worried, angry, stressed, and unsure of what the future will bring. The part of my practice I enjoy the best is watching that client change throughout the process; sometimes so much so that the person I first meet is hardly recognizable when compared to the person sitting across from me at the end of their case. I like knowing that the person who leaves my office was better off because I was involved.. Whether in court or in settlement, I will be the most prepared person in the room, which means not only involving the right people, such as CPA’s, financial advisors, business evaluators or psychologists; it also means having the tough conversations with my clients. I will always be honest with my client, even if what I’m saying is not what the client wants to hear. My goal is to settle every case that comes through the door because in my experience, clients and families typically have better outcomes when a settlement can be reached. However, I am not afraid to go to court when necessary and I have litigated several complex family law cases, which my adversaries know about me.

I am married and have three sons and four daughters.  I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2006 with a major in Sociology and double minor in Psychology and Criminology.  I obtained my law degree from Chase College of Law in 2011.. In 2001, I joined the Kentucky National Guard.  I spent the next seven years as a military police officer.  During this period I deployed into Baghdad, Iraq where I performed route security missions.  In 2008, I commissioned into the officer ranks.  As an officer I have served as a Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Company Commander, and Informtion Systems Officer.  For the last six years I have worked as a Judge Advocate and have assignments as trial counsel, Deputy Brigade JA, Brigade JA, Cyber Law Chief, and State Deputy JA.  I will be retiring from the military in 2021.. From early in my life I have understood the importance of family and the need to keep those relationships strong.  My parents raised four daughters and 37 foster children.  I have continued my parents mission by placing a focus on children in my practice.  I previously served as a Guardian Ad Litem and currently focus on mediation and collaborative options.  My goal is to help families sort through their legal obstacles while maintaining their family unity and hopefully reducing any negative impact upon their children.. I have practiced family law in the Portland area (Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington Counties) for over 33 years. Raised in Portland, I graduated from Marshall High School, Warner Pacific University and Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College. My first 27 years of practice were in SE Portland, and in 2021 I moved my practice to Wood Village to provide my clients with an improved client-focused experience. Ryan is a family law practitioner, which is the polite way to explain at a fancy dinner party that he is a divorce lawyer without the word divorce ever spilling out across the table. Ryan spends most of his days in court, preparing for court, or explaining to his clients why they should attempt to avoid court at all costs. Being in court -- litigating -- is what drew Ryan to the practice of family law. Ryan is no stranger to big stages. Ryan made his first front page newspaper headline when he was less than two weeks old. He fractured his skull (it was an accident!) before he could walk. He attended home school, private school, and public school. Ryan left private school halfway through his junior year of high school, despite his parents' best efforts to dissuade him, and transferred to one of the largest public high schools in Southwest Washington (State, not D.C.). Ryan was elected student body President less than five months after setting foot in the door. Ryan's first job was as a door-to-door salesman; he was 12. He started his own window washing business before he could drive a car. He spent time as a groundskeeper, bartender, and dog-walker. Ryan performed tooth extractions in Nicaragua. He laid roof in the Appalachians. And he has never lost an alpine skiing Lawyers are sometimes referred to as sharks, or blood-suckers. Ryan has played one of those on the big screen. A blood-sucker, not a shark. Ryan has died on film; he has killed on film; he has been yelled at by Michael Bay (not on film).2 Ryan was in a punk rock band for a short period of time, but got out before getting some smokin' tattoos. He sang tenor 2 in an all-male choir (also leaving before acquiring any tattoos). He played Nathan Detroit in a college production of Guys & Dolls despite having never gambled in a casino in his life. Ryan is married to the love of his life. They have three amazingly wonderful boys who sometimes simultaneously drive them crazy and make them crazy proud to be their parents. Ryan's boss once told Ryan that he is a better family law lawyer because he has kids of his own, which means Ryan understands just how important issues like custody and parenting time really are to his clients. And Ryan can appreciate that yelling at your child doesn't mean you're a bad parent. By the same token, Ryan believes that life experience is what makes good lawyers great lawyers. Ryan's life experiences are the reason he is one of only two private lawyers in the State of Oregon to currently serve in an advisory role to the Chief Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court on matters pertaining to family law. Ryan's life experiences propelled him in to a position in which he finds himself regularly testifying before the Oregon Legislature on behalf of the Oregon State Bar regarding proposed family law legislation. Andrew is a partner at Holtey Law LLC in Portland, Oregon. He has high-level experience in trial and appellate courts across the state. Sarah Bond was born outside of Chicago in Elgin, Illinois and grew up in Bellingham, Washington.  She attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington ( 1997) where she received a BA in philosophy.  While at Whitman College, Sarah was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and served as president of the Black Student Union ( 1997).. Sarah Bond received her law degree from Boalt Hall, University of California, Berkeley (2001 through 2004).  Upon admission to Boalt Hall, Sarah was awarded the Berkeley Law Foundation, Phoenix Fellowship.  After her first year of law school, Sarah served as a summer associate at the East Bay Community Law Center.  After her second year of law school, Sarah served as a summer associate with Morrison and Foerster, San Francisco.  During her third year of law school, Sarah Bond served as co-editor in chief of the African American Law and Policy Report (2003 – 2004).. Upon graduating from Boalt Hall, Sarah moved to Seattle, Washington.  She was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 2004.. While in Seattle, Sarah practiced law as an associate attorney at Stokes Lawrence (2004 through 2007).  As an associate attorney at Stokes Lawrence, Sarah practiced both family law and complex civil litigation.. In 2007, Sarah and her family moved to Portland, Oregon.  She was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 2008.  She began practicing family law at Zimmer Family Law in October 2008.. Christian Nathan Scritsmier grew up in Oregon.  He graduated from Jesuit High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Oregon, and studied law at Willamette University.  While in law school, Christian clerked for the Marion County District Attorney’s Office and served as Executive Editor of the Willamette Journal of International Law & Dispute Resolution.  He entered Willamette’s Dispute Resolution program, which U.S. News & World Report ranked at that time as one of the top ten dispute resolution programs in the country.  Upon graduating from law school, Christian earned a Dispute Resolution Certificate in addition to his law degree.. Christian is a talented attorney, experienced negotiator, and a wise advocate for his clients. In 2018, he began working as associate attorney at Perkins Law, LLC.  Christian is a member of the Family Law Section of the Oregon State Bar and the Local Family Law Advisory Committee of Clackamas County.. I was born and raised in Colorado, and received a Bachelors Degree in History with minors in Political Science and Legal Studies at Colorado State University.  After graduation I moved to Oregon to pursue my life long dream of becoming an attorney. I was accepted to Willamette University College of Law on a Presidential Scholarship and moved to Salem in the fall of 2017.. I graduated from Willamette University's College of Law as the Oregon Women Lawyer's Law Graduate of the year.. I was formally sworn in as a member of the Oregon State Bar in October 2020. Since admission, I have represented clients in numerous family law cases including high value asset division, custody and parenting time modifications, spousal support modifications, prenuptual agreements, marital settlement agreements, and divorce litigation. I have also completed a 40 hour mediation training with Dr. Clare Fowler.. I emphasize communication and transparency in my practice.
