I began my legal career in June of 2001 as an Assistant State Attorney here in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida (Clay, Duval and Nassau County). I spent a total of seven years at the State Attorney's Office where I handled cases from misdemeanor domestic violence, petit theft, DUIs, as well as many different felony cases including, drug possession, drug sales, trafficking, grand theft, child abuse, child neglect, sexual assault, sexual battery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, attempted murder and murder. I ended my career as a Division Chief in the felony division and a member of the homicide rotation. I handled over forty jury trials during this time and hundreds of other contested evidentiary hearings. The trial advocacy skills I learned while as a State prosecutor have assisted me greatly in private practice handling criminal defense and family law cases.
