Emily McArthur opened McArthur Law Firm, LLC, formerly Ossmann Law Office, LLC, in 2006, and focuses solely on assisted reproductive technology law and estate planning for Gestational Carriers and their families.. Emily received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2004, where she was admitted to the prestigious 10th Circuit Court of Appeals Clinic. She also participated as a student lawyer in the Student Law Office and the Student Justice Action Group.. Emily holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she graduated with honors, and a Master of Art and Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

When I'm not representing my clients, I take advantage of living in our beautiful state of Colorado. I love camping, hiking and snowboarding. The mountains are the reason I moved to Colorado two years ago and they are the reason I stay.

Leonard is an immensely experienced and dedicated litigator. Originally from Hawaii, he moved to Colorado in 1985 to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango, where he received his B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science in 1991. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver in 1997. He is licensed to practice before all Colorado Courts, the United States District Court, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Leonard is a very experienced courtroom litigator, giving him invaluable insights and ability to assist his clients in navigating to fair resolutions, avoiding litigated outcomes where possible. However, when matters must be tried, he possesses the command of the law, and courtroom skills, necessary to protect your interests. Leonard has litigated at all levels of Colorado state courts, including the Colorado Court of Appeals, Colorado Supreme Court, as well as matters before the federal courts. Leonard has even been engaged to litigate complex family law matters in jurisdictions outside the Colorado where matters required sophisticated grasp of family dynamics and law. In addition, Leonard has been certified as an expert concerning aspects of Family Law litigation related reasonbleness of fees and costs.. He is member of the Colorado Bar Association, Arapahoe County Bar Association, Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Committee, American Association of Conciliation Courts and sits on the executive council of the Minoru Yasui American Inn of Court. Outside of his career in the law, Leonard enjoys spending time with his family and service to the community. His "other life" is spent in the serious practice and study of traditional karate, where he holds a 7th degree black belt with the prestigious Japan Karate Association. My practice includes a mixture of family law and civil litigation cases.  In the family law arena, I have experience with divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, paternity and relinquishment and adoption issues.  In the civil litigation arena, I focus primarily on contract disputes, including the protection of contract rights of creditors in bankruptcy proceedings.  I have experience in probate and in estate planning for small estates which do not require federal tax planning.. Outside of the office, I enjoy hiking, snowshoeing and traveling.  These adventures have taken me to Vietnam and Cambodia and to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.  I have also been to all 50 of the United States.

I practice family law because it is both rewarding and personal to me. Family law isn't like many other fields of law because it requires genuine compassion and empathy. My clients come to me during their toughest times. They are often confused and intimidated by the legal system. As an attorney having overcome my own family struggles, I understand this stress and the need for a compassionate, savvy lawyer to help them make informed, thoughtful decisions about their futures.. Family law is also an interesting field of law intellectually. I love keeping current with the latest cases in my field. I also enjoy legal writing and appellate work in this area.. And while I am always up for litigating a good family law case before the court, I understand that family law cases are often cost prohibitive to many Coloradans. This is why I am very mediation and settlement-focused. I also offer sliding scale services and am a big advocate of unbundled services.
