Lisa A. Difilippo, Esq. was born and raised in Queens, New York until she and her family moved to Miami, Florida where she completed high school and college. Lisa supported herself through college working as a paralegal at a boutique Miami law firm that specialized in automobile accidents and criminal defense. Shangar’s desire to fight for individuals was forged in childhood when her Kurdish family fled government repression and persecution in Iraq and immigrated to America when she was 11. She later returned to Iraq to work for the International Rescue Committee, helping refugees find homes and reconnect with their families.. During college, Shangar helped U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley fight for individuals in Oregon and nationally. Her background, experience, and work ethic led her to the honor of delivering the commencement address for her graduating class at Portland State University..
