University work pay was docked without notice

Location: Georgia, USA Hello, I am here hoping to get a little insight on this situation. I work for my public university’s housing department. My coworkers and I work at this university’s residential front desks. We are all full time students for this university. A couple months ago, the pay for our night shift (12am to 6am) staff was docked by a dollar without notice. No announcement, email, or anything was ever sent out to any of the students. The students had to find out by receiving their paycheck and calculating the missing pay themselves. At the same time, our managers had no problem announcing that our day shift pay had increased by a few cents. It was not until a few days ago a meeting was held without formal notice in an attempt to resolve the situation. After the meeting there was a short written summary that briefly addressed the pay differences under the meeting notice, again without formally notifying any of the students. Are the students entitled to the money lost in those couple months since the pay dock was never announced? Is there any legal action that would be worth pursuing because of these (in)actions?
