Injured in dog attack

personal injury attorney Washington Aug 27, 2026
Location: Washington State I was walking my dog off leash for 4 years on the same vacant gravel lot. She was about 10 feet in front of me and is trained in recall. A dog I’ve never seen saw her from about 100 ft, immediately charged her, and attacked immediately. I was able to jump on the dog and pull its mouth off my dog, injuring my knees, elbow, and hands with puncture wounds. Police came and the owner admitted she was off leash training because her dog “isn’t good with other dogs”. She also admitted her dog attacked mine and was the aggressor. This is reflected in the police report, but her admitting she knew the dog is dangerous is not. I’ve left a voicemail with the officer to ask him to add it. I was transported to the hospital. No broken bones or sutures, just pretty scratched and punctured. Come to find out, she’s a neighbor and her house is up for sale. I was planning on taking legal action after I healed but wondering if she sells and moves if I would be able to locate her, or run into other issues. Anyone have experience dealing with this and provide advice? TIA
