Custody Battle/Parental Alienation

child custody attorney Minnesota Oct 19, 2026
Location: South Dakota I’m in South Dakota, and my 3-year-old son’s father lives in Minnesota. We were never married, and there was no custody order when he took our son from daycare to Minnesota, refused to return him, and withheld his location. He was arrested twice, and I have evidence, including daycare footage and messages. We also have an ongoing custody case. His criminal hearing is tomorrow: Should I attend? Could attending affect the criminal or custody case? Should I contact the prosecutor or victim-witness coordinator first? Are there restrictions on what I should say or do? Looking for advice from someone familiar with South Dakota or Minnesota cases involving parents taking children across state lines.
