Employer Payroll Mistake

Location: Michigan My employer claims they mistakenly overpaid my tips for a check a couple months ago. They said I could have them take out a set amount per check until it’s evened out or pay it all as I choose. I’m not sure what the laws are regarding payroll mistakes. Appreciate any advice/info! Edit: They did overpay me for certain, they showed me the receipts.
