My dad keyed a Tesla and is being convicted.
criminal defense attorney California Nov 7, 2026
Location: California La I don’t agree what he did is right. my friend asked me for advice but I don’t know much but would like to hear people opinion or advice to provide to him. I don’t know a lot to the situation but so far he went to hearing this week and he was given 2 years probation . 6 month jail and has to pay 4K in damages. Also has to do angry management classes. He has a clean record never been arrested or charged in his life. He’s in he’s late 60s. Was planning to retire this coming year is the sole provider of the family. (Has a government job as well) This would affect my family a lot. ATM he was a public defender but they ask asking him to just do the classes and also get written statements from people at work (coworker , supervisor and friends) on who he is as a person. So far what happens was that he keyed a Tesla that smacked into his car and damage his door when they open Their door then he proceeded to key their car and left. The next day cops showed up to he’s house to arrest him he wasn’t home but he ended up turning himself in after he got off work. Then from there was released and mandated to attend angry management classes which he’d been attending ever since. Then he got a trial date. The trial began this week so he heard he’s charges. I wanted to ask what should he do ? Should be hiring a criminal defense, lawyer or stay with the public defender. Would he probably do time ? Even with a clean record ? I don’t agree with what he did but he isn’t a bad person he’s very kind but he probably was having a bad day and messed up which I think he has definitely learn with all the things happen and the conviction but I don’t think he should do jail time but I understand hit and runs are seen serious in California. Any advice would be helpful
