Child Support Questions

child support attorney Washington Nov 8, 2026
Location: Washington Hello all, I have turned 18 about 6 months ago, and was going over court documents from my parents divorce. They offically divorced in around 2014, but separated around 2010-2012. My mother has raised me and my siblings (they're adopted) since then. My father was instructed to pay child support, and was given specific guidelines when it comes to how he can interact with us (therapy for mental health issues, child support payments, supervised visits, etc). He has payed some child support, but not nearly enough. That being, about 4 payments since 2024, about $500 total, but still owes over $120,000. To make matters more interesting, he has claimed to have had a brain injury, and doesn't remember being married, or having children. But, yesterday he did reach out to me, stating that it's him, referring to himself as my father, therefore claiming parental acknowledgment. I am curious, given Washington laws, is there anyway I can go about having him pay? He lives in Wyoming, and does have a business that is profitable. I'm honestly just curious. If anyone deals in child support laws specifically, please let me know what's advisable, or if there's anything I can do. Edit: After seeing responses, it seems like my mother would be the one needing to take him to court over the lack of payment. Is there any other form of legal action I personally could take against him?
