Location: Adams County, Colorado My fiance has been in custody since August 17th on multiple charges. Bond was set the next day at $250,000, cash-only — meaning we can't use a bondsman to get him out for a fraction of that amount, it has to be the full sum in cash. The judge set that amount specifically because he called him a "danger to the community," without addressing whether the family could actually afford it, without acknowledging that he's the primary provider for his son and for me, and without considering alternatives like GPS monitoring or house arrest that would let him be home and working while the case moves forward. He's had two different public defenders so far — one at the first hearing who's since rotated off, and a new one who just got the file. The plan right now is to wait until the next court date on the 8th to revisit bond, which means over two and a half weeks in jail before anyone even asks the judge to reconsider. So right now he's sitting in Adams County, Colorado jail, away from his son and me, unable to work, with a bond nobody in the family can pay, and no movement expected for weeks unless something changes that timeline. Under Colorado law (and the 8th Amendment), the sole purpose of a monetary bond is to guarantee the defendant shows up to court—it cannot be used as a punishment. The judge in his case is using it…

Hi! Location: Saguache, CO I was cited by the Colorado State Patrol for speeding at 96 mph in a 65 mph zone under CRS [42-4-1101](tel:42-4-1101)(1). I have a court date in Saguache County on September 24, 2026. I am a EU citizen and I will be leaving the United States on August 26, 2026, so I will be back in Hungary before my court date. I will give the court a call about this next week, I do not want to leave this case to escalate of course. I might get a lawyer later. I really hope the court will allow me to attend online - do you think this will be possible? Should I be worried about getting stopped at the airport going home, not allowed to board? This is my first clash with the law ever, the only charge is the speeding. I know it was stupid, i know it was close to arrestable, it was unnecessary. Thank you!

Location: Colorado I (35f) had to call the police on my son's father (47m) for stealing and ingesting my son's (13m) Ritalin. He was charged for a drug misdemeanor and has to appear in court. Like it says above-mentioned, I am trying to obtain the police report of the arrest. I contacted the police report records, had all the correct information and documents and I was met with the following statement: "A public criminal record does not exist with respect to the defendant." They encouraged me to contact either the county or municipal courts. What does this mean and what do I do? Thank you
