Location: Florida I was asleep on my couch and awoke to 3 police officers that smashed my door down due to me not hearing them knock on a welfare check called in by my parents. Unfortunately, I had a decent size amount of cocaine, meth, and Xanax on my living room table. They explained my parents hadn’t heard from me in 3 days and were worried as they are aware of possible addiction tendencies in the past. When I didn’t answer (Truly didn’t hear them as I was asleep), my parents asked them to kick the door down. Parents don’t pay the rent at all, I’m a full adult. 1 cop stayed with me and I could hear the other 2 in my kitchen discussing if the breaking in was legal and if they should make an arrest. Welp, they did. Facing 2 different felony charges. I am lawyering up. I have a great job, if convicted I can certainly say my life is completely over. Any insight?

Location: Washington State (I reside in Florida) I’m a 19-year-old college student who lives in Florida. While visiting Mount Rainier National Park in June, my girlfriend and I became stranded on the Skyline Loop due to snow conditions and ultimately had to be rescued by the National Park Service. Afterward, I received a federal misdemeanor citation requiring a mandatory initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Tacoma, Washington. I have no criminal record and have never previously been charged with or convicted of a crime. I’ve always stayed out of trouble and take situations like this seriously, so I have no intention of ignoring the court date or failing to comply with the court. My main concern right now is the logistics of the mandatory in-person appearance. I live across the country in Florida and am a full-time college student beginning my fall semester. Appearing in Tacoma would require round-trip airfare, transportation, potentially lodging, and missing classes. The Western District of Washington’s website appears to say that initial CVB appearances generally must be in person. I’m trying to figure out whether there are any exceptions or procedures available for someone in my circumstances. What options, if any, are available for someone in my situation? Can I formally request permission to appear remotely because I live in Florida and am a full-time student? Could a Washington attorney appear for me, or request that my personal appearance be waived? Location: Texas Hi. I’m sorry if this isn’t the place to post this but I have no idea where to go or what to do and my family lives in Florida while my brother is in Texas. This morning my brother was arrested and charges he’s facing are identity theft and I believe possession of stolen documents if I’m not mistaken. His Amazon work account was closed so he was working under the account of a friend who let him use it, and I guess when he got pulled over for speeding the officer saw an ID that didn’t match him and arrested him. My brother is currently undergoing asylum process. My family is trying to see if we can do anything about bail bond but when we call they’re telling us they’re unable to bond him out because he is not a U.S Citizen or Resident however I keep getting answers online that are telling me otherwise. I believe he can pay 5k bond but we can’t afford it. Can anyone please give me some advice? Thank you.

Location: Florida A couple of months ago, my car was broken into while it was parked at my apartment. The police knocked on my door to let me know it had happened. At the time, I had just moved, and my car was full of unlabeled boxes. I honestly had no idea if anything had been stolen because I hadn’t unpacked yet. I told the responding officers multiple times that my car had been locked and that someone had forced entry to get inside. I also told them I would need to go through my boxes before I could tell if anything was missing. About a week later, after unpacking, I realized a couple thousand dollars worth of camera equipment and other items had been stolen. I called the police while the case was still open and reported everything. The person I spoke with told me they updated the case with the list of stolen items. Fast forward about a month. The case was closed, and I requested the police report because my insurance company needs it. When I got the report, I found two major issues: It says my vehicle was unlocked, even though I know for a fact it was locked and I told the officers that multiple times.
