Location: Georgia A few months ago (February) I was backing out of my apartment’s parking complex at no more than 5 mph and hit an idle vehicle sitting in the middle of the parking lot (I completely missed it in my rear view mirrors + camera and thought I had a clear route to back up, and the officer put me at fault (rightfully so), though this was also on private property). The incident was on video and the video was reviewed by the officer who responded prior to providing the accident information to me and the other driver. About 2 weeks after this, my insurance contacts me and lets me know that I’m being sued for a $100,000 personal injury claim. The consensus I got from this conversation was not to stress it because situations like this are why insurance exists, so by this point I was waiting to see how it goes. Fast forward to today, I’ve received an email with a copy of the claim and a long list of injuries related to the other guy’s lower back from my insurance. The email states that the claim is the policy limit, but that it’s possible I could have additional fees to cover if it exceeds. With this, there was a line stating that in the event that this goes to court, that they would hire attorneys to handle it, but also a line which mentions the option of hiring a personal attorney to review the case as…
