Location: Kansas So I’m moving out of a shared apartment in five days the lease was up today my roommate was supposed to be signing a new lease without me today the lease came with a higher then agreed upon amount so my roommate refused to sign and is not trying to negotiate a lower amount. This leaves with me a awkward situation we’re technically squatting as far as I’m concerned and I don’t wanna get in trouble but my roommate says I’m fine cause they have thirty days before they can file an eviction notice and I’ll be gone before then I really don’t wanna get in trouble I just wanna move without a hassle

Location: Western Kansas, US I rent a studio apartment in Western Kansas which is currently in a heat wave. We have had two seperate heat advisories over the last two weeks with temperatures over the hundreds pretty much every day. My AC has been out since July 26th (it is a central system so this means the entire building has no AC, not just my apartment). A little over a week in, they installed portable units in the apartments, but they do pretty much nothing to lower the apartment temperature (we have no openable windows so they're hooked into the maintenance space and can't really vent any heat). I get updates pretty much every day about what they might be currently doing to try to fix the AC (they're missing a part, they can't get a technician, the part didn't actually fix the chiller etc), but none of it has actually done the job. I don't know what to do. I've been alternately sleeping on coworkers couches and sleeping on the floor directly in front of the portable unit as its upwards of 90 degrees in the rest of my apartment constantly. Is there anything at all I can do here? Do I have any options, or is my landlord protected because they are hypothetically trying to fix it?
