Teresa L. HatfieldTeresa Lucia Fiore Hatfield was born in Westchester County, New York on May 27, 1980. She graduated Cum Laude from the Honors Program at Loyola University New Orleans with an undergraduate degree in English Literature and a minor in Spanish in 2002. Mary Katherine Shoenfelt, who goes by "Katie", is a Baton Rouge native. She went to St. James Episcopal for elementary school, Our Lady of Mercy for middle school, and graduated high school from St. Joseph's Academy in 2002. She grew up playing sports, including volleyball, soccer, tennis, and basketball.  She had several scholarships in soccer upon high school graduation but took an academic scholarship to Ole Miss in forensic chemistry.  Missing home, she transferred to LSU in 2003.  In 2006 she graduated from LSU with a B.S. in biological sciences and a minor in communication studies.  That fall she began law school at LSU, and she graduated in 2009.
