Location: New Jersey About a month ago my son in laws car was hit by a NJ county work truck. There was significant damage done to my son-in-law’s car. It’s basically smashed in on the back where the gas tank is and there’s no back tail light. The county truck was a fault and there was a witness present. The police were called. The witness provided his information. My son-in-law asked for the drivers information but was told it would be on the police report. When my son-in-law finally got the police report, he was shocked to see that the witness was listed as the at fault driver. There was no mention on the police report of the county truck being involved in the accident. My son-in-law has photos of the accident. He has reached out to the police multiple times, but they are ignoring his calls. He feels the falsified police report is an effort to obstruct his ability to get the car fixed. Especially as it has the witness as the driver. He is forced to drive a vehicle that honestly should not even be on the road. There’s so much damage to the back corner where the gas tank is. We are really concerned that he’s even in the most minor of accidents, there could be a fire. We believe he needs speak to an attorney and I was wondering if we could get any feedback on this.

I'm interested in exploring whether there's a viable constitutional challenge to the State restoring civic obligations while continuing to withhold other civil rights.
