Location: Bexar county, Texas We'll start with, I recognize that this is Reddit, and none of the info I get here should be considered bulletproof and actionable legal advice, I'm just looking to hear from people who may know more than me about the laws and regulations in my area I have been sent a demand for payment from my HOA collections lawyer, and while I do not dispute that I am behind on my dues, and I actively want to remedy the situation and return to good standing. But I do not want to be taken for a ride and squeezed for every penny I have. Things that stand out to me in the payment demand: As I understand it, Texas law states that HOA/Collections fees must be "reasonable" and I feel that $2000 in administrative fees for ~$500 in late dues and late fees is not reasonable. Also the payment plan options provided to me were a 6 month option that takes my ~$2500 debt up to $3,357 in just admin fees, and a 12 month option that increases to a staggering $4031, again in primarily admin fees. Kind of my primary question about the payment plans presented is that both include an entry for "Estimated Future Late Fees" of $150 and $300 for the 6 and 12 month options respectively. As I understand it, the inclusion of further punitive fees in my payment plan is a violation of Texas property code § 209.0062.

I currently reside in a condo located inside an HOA. This condo used to be two separate units, but the previous owners got married and combined them into one unit with one address. They cannot be taken apart and made into two separate units again. The HOA requires us to pay 2 assessments because of the previous two separate units. Where do I begin in taking this to the HOA in hopes that I can get this changed to one assessment per month? Would getting the property replatted make a difference? If it matters, I am aware of another property in the same HOA-it is a house, but they own the empty lot next to it, and they only pay one assessment each month. Location: Texas

Location: TEXAS I just received a letter from HOA. Stating that they can put lien or foreclosure on my house for non payments of $1300 due to violation of not cutting mowing my lawn. I do cut my lawn just not regularly. Just missed 2-3 times after they sent me the notice. Which was about $100 per fine. The rest is just interests and late fees. I’ve paid all my assessments on time. My question is what options do I have? Can they really put lien on my house or foreclosure, solely for fines? I’ve emailed them prior to this letter and asked them to make the amount reasonable and I’ll pay. Which they declined to waive any amount from it. TIA
