Official statutory text

(a) The Legislature finds and declares that one purpose of the California State Lottery Act of 1984 (Chapter 12.5 (commencing with Section 8880) of Division 1 of Title 2 of the Government Code) was to provide school districts, county offices of education, and community college districts with additional funds free of state control.

(b) In order to further the purpose identified in subdivision (a), the expenditure of funds received by a school district, county office of education, or community college district pursuant to Section 8880.5 of the Government Code shall not be subject to state control.
