Official statutory text
(a) The State Board of Education may, upon its own motion or upon petition of the county board of education or a majority of districts in the county, reestablish a county committee on school district organization whose duties and powers have been previously transferred pursuant to Section 4020.
(b) The State Board of Education shall vote to approve or disapprove any petition submitted pursuant to subdivision (a) at the next regularly scheduled board meeting for which the matter can be properly noticed.
