When juvenile court may order completion of certain alternative programs; payment of cost of participation in such programs
Official statutory text
1. If a child has not previously been adjudicated delinquent or in need of supervision and the unlawful act committed by the delinquent child did not involve the use or threatened use of force or violence against a victim, the juvenile court may order a child to complete any or all of the following programs: (a) A program of cognitive training and human development established pursuant to NRS 62E.220 . (b) A program for the arts as described in NRS 62E.240 . (c) A program of sports or physical fitness as described in NRS 62E.240 .
2. If the juvenile court orders the child to participate in a program of cognitive training and human development, a program for the arts or a program of sports or physical fitness, the juvenile court may order the county in which the petition alleging the child to be in need of supervision is filed to pay the costs associated with the participation of the child in the program.
3. Unless the parent or guardian of the child signs a waiver of liability, the program in which the child participates shall provide policies of insurance against liability for personal injury and damage to property during those periods in which the child participates in the program.
