N.Y. DCD Law § 170

§ 170. Warrant on withholding account or property. Whenever the\ntrustees shall show by their own oath, or other competent proof, to the\nsatisfaction of any judge of a county court, or in the county of New\nYork any justice of the supreme court, that there is good reason to\nbelieve that the debtor, the spouse of the debtor, or any other person\nhas concealed or embezzled any part of the estate of such debtor vested\nin the said trustees; or that any person can testify concerning the\nconcealment or embezzlement thereof; or that any person who shall not\nhave rendered an account as above required, is indebted to such debtor,\nor has property in his or her custody or possession, belonging to such\ndebtor; such judge or justice shall issue a warrant, commanding any\nsheriff or constable, to cause such debtor, the spouse of the debtor, or\nother person, to be brought before him at such time and place as he\nshall appoint, for the purpose of being examined.\n
