N.Y. EDN Law § 805

* § 805. Asian American, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander history\nadvisory committee; appointment; powers and duties. 1. The commissioner\nshall establish an Asian American, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander\n(AANHPI) history advisory committee.\n 2. (a) The committee shall be comprised of four members, to be\nappointed as follows:\n (i) one member appointed by the governor;\n (ii) one member appointed by the temporary president of the senate;\n (iii) one member appointed by the speaker of the assembly; and\n (iv) one member appointed by the commissioner.\n (b) All members appointed to the committee shall be experts in Asian\nAmerican, Native Hawaiians and/or Pacific Islander studies and/or have a\nbackground in educational instruction and/or educational administration.\n (c) All members of the committee shall be appointed within ninety days\nof the effective date of this section.\n 3. Vacancies in the membership of the committee shall be filled in the\nsame manner provided for original appointments.\n 4. The committee shall meet no less than four times per year.\n 5. The committee shall provide recommendations on the following:\n (a) high-quality K-12 curricular and instructional resources on AANHPI\nhistory; and\n (b) strategies for strengthening and deepening public K-12 education\nprograms in the areas of AANHPI history, including analysis of the\nsurvey referenced in section two of the chapter of the laws of two\nthousand twenty-five that added this section.\n 6. The committee shall submit their recommendations to the\ncommissioner no later than two years after the effective date of this\nsection and be disbanded thereafter.\n 7. Committee members shall receive no compensation for their services,\nbut shall be allowed their actual and necessary expenses incurred in the\nperformance of their duties.\n 8. To effectuate the purposes of this section, the committee may\nrequest from any department, board, bureau, commission or other agency\nof the state, and the same are authorized to provide, such cooperation\nand assistance, services and data as will enable the committee to\nproperly carry out its functions pursuant to this section.\n * NB Repealed December 12, 2028\n
