N.Y. UDC Law § 2101

§ 2101. Definitions.\n The following words used in this act shall have the meaning defined in\nthis section, unless otherwise apparent from the context:\n (a) "Administrative board" means the administrative board of the\njudicial conference of the state.\n (b) "Administrative judge" means the officer designated by the\nappellate division of the department in which the court is located.\n (c) "Appellate division" means the appellate division of the supreme\ncourt in and for the department in which the court is located, or its\ndesignated administrative judge.\n (d) "Clerk" means the chief clerk or any other clerk or non-judicial\nperson, regardless of title, employed by the court and designated to\nperform the function referred to in the particular section.\n (e) "County" means the county in which the court is located.\n (f) "County executive" means the officer, regardless of title, holding\nthe highest executive position in the county.\n (g) "Court" means the district court in the county or one of the\njudges thereof, unless the context clearly indicates reference to some\nother court.\n (h) "District" means a district of the court within the county,\nwhether the court is established for the entire county or only a part\nthereof, and whether or not the districts of the court within the county\nare contiguous.\n (i) "Enforcement officer" means such officer or officers, whether\nsheriffs or marshals or otherwise titled, designated pursuant to law to\nexecute the civil mandates of the court.\n (j) "Judge" means any judicial officer of the district court, unless\nthe context clearly indicates reference to some other judge.\n (k) "Rules" means the rules adopted pursuant to § 2103 of this act.\n (l) "Supervisors" means the board of supervisors or other elective\ngoverning body of the county.\n
