§ 705.55. Powers exercised by council

January 1, 1976 House Bill 205 - 111th General Assembly The powers conferred upon municipal corporations by the Ohio Constitution and any additional powers conferred upon municipal corporations by the general assembly, shall be exercised by the council, unless the exercise of such powers is expressly conferred upon some other authority of the municipal corporation or reserved to the people thereof. In municipal corporations in which a municipal court is not provided by law, each councilman may perform all of the general duties of mayors, as provided in section 733.30 of the Revised Code, and shall have such jurisdiction as is provided by section 1905.20 of the Revised Code. The member of council elected chairman shall perform all judicial functions.
