Powers and duties of board of directors

Official statutory text

The board of directors shall have the following powers and

duties:

1. To manage and conduct the business affairs of such district;

2. To make and execute all necessary contracts;

3. To purchase or lease-purchase and maintain necessary and

convenient equipment for the construction and maintenance of roads

within the district which acquisition shall be made pursuant to

state competitive bidding laws;

4. To cooperate with the county in the use of county equipment

for the construction and maintenance of roads within the district;

5. In cooperating with the county to utilize the services of

county employees, sufficient to maintain and operate the equipment

owned by such district in otherwise improving and maintaining the

roads of the district;

6. To take by grant, purchase, gift, devise or lease, and to

dispose of, real or personal property of every kind necessary for

the operation of the district;

7. To construct or otherwise acquire suitable buildings or

structures for the housing of equipment and supplies of the

district, or for carrying on its own business and affairs which

acquisition shall be made pursuant to state competitive bidding

laws;

8. To employ such officers and employees as may be required,

fix their compensation and prescribe their duties;

9. To establish rules and regulations for the district and for

the construction and maintenance of roads, culverts and drainage

projects within the district; and

10. To do any and all other things necessary and proper in the

management and operation of the district for the purpose of

constructing and maintaining roads to serve the people of the

district.
