SECTION 42-1-490. Payments to claimant-inmates of State Department of Corrections.

Payments for injuries as authorized in Section 42-1-480 shall be paid from the State Accident Fund from appropriations thereto in the manner claims are paid to state employees. Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, no inmate shall be paid a lump-sum settlement for an injury, disfigurement or death benefit. Any such lump-sum benefit which might normally be paid to an inmate or another eligible person who is not an inmate shall be paid on a monthly basis not to exceed ten percent of the total amount in any month, in addition to any weekly benefits awarded.
