Statewide DARE club established - Purpose

(a) The state board of education, in consultation with the commissioner of safety, shall establish a statewide DARE club in which any student in grades six through twelve (6-12) may join and participate. Each LEA, middle school, junior high school or high school desiring to do so may form a chapter of the statewide DARE club. (b) The primary purpose of the DARE club shall be to continue and reinforce the drug abuse resistance education the students may have received in kindergarten through grade six (K-6). (c) The state board may pattern the organization, rules, bylaws and similar procedural requirements of the club after other successful statewide clubs, such as Future Farmers of America, Future Homemakers of America and 4-H clubs.
