Payment of expenses of department - Record of receipts and expenditures - Excess fees

The commissioner shall pay out of the fees of the commissioner's office the necessary expenses of the department, shall keep an accurate record of all receipts and expenditures, and shall require and preserve sworn vouchers for each payment. The excess of fees, after paying necessary expenses, shall be turned into the state treasury. Acts 1895, ch. 160, § 39; Shan., § 3324; mod. Code 1932, § 6153; T.C.A. (orig. ed.), § 56-138.
