Certification and identification of assessors and deputies

(a) The state board of equalization has the power and the duty to prescribe the educational and training courses to be taken by assessors and their deputies, with a long-range view of gradually raising the professional standards and qualifications required, and has the power and duty to issue certificates to those it has found to be qualified to be assessors and deputy assessors on the basis of their successful completion of such educational and training courses. (b) The state board shall issue identification cards to all assessors and their deputies. Such identification card shall identify the holder as an assessor or the assessor's deputy. Furthermore, the state board shall issue identification decals for the motor vehicles used by an assessor or the assessor's deputy. Such decal shall identify the motor vehicle as one used by an assessor or the assessor's deputy in the performance of the assessor's or deputy assessor's official duties.
