Mark Mahoney, a partner in the Buffalo firm of Harrington & Mahoney, has always been engaged in private practice as a criminal defense lawyer, handling trials and appeals in state and federal courts. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Practitioner awards of both the Criminal Justice Section of the New York State Bar Association and of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, of which he is a founding member and former President. Mr. Mahoney has also served as Director of the New York State Defenders Association and is recipient of its Service to Justice Award. He served two terms as an elected member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association (Canada) and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, and in "Super Lawyers.". Mr. Mahoney has taught Trial Technique, Appellate Practice and Advanced Criminal Procedure at the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. He has lectured extensively to a wide range of audiences, across the country and in Canada, and has written numerous articles and chapters of books, on subjects related to criminal law. He is the author of the extinct electronic publication New York Criminal Defense Motions (West, 1994) and the widely circulated "Right to Present a Defense" monograph, published privately at .
