Lockey Legal was founded by attorney Lockey White in Hilo, Hawaii.  It began originally in 2001 while Lockey was still in law school.  She formed it as a law technology company in Portland, Oregon, that launched the first ever grassroots online legal document marketplace ( Smart Mediary Systems).  Her idea was to make legal forms and sample pleadings accessible to all.  Since that time as a tech CEO & entreprenuer Lockey received her JD in law from Lewis & Clark College with a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. She also worked for some of the nations largest law firms (Davis Wright Tremaine, Hinshaw & Culbertson), served in government positions in Hawaii, Nevada, and Oregon (Department of Justice, Department of Industrial Releations, and Corporation Counsel), served on various nonprofit boards (SustainUS, Hawaii Hongwanji), and entered private practice mostly focusing on civil litigation.. Lockey's focus during the foreclosure crisis in 2008 became foreclosure defense for homeowners where she applied the skills she learned working for the large lenders at large law firms towards helping the average homeowner tackle wrongful foreclosures and save their homes.  Prior to law school Lockey served as an Apprentice Mediator and tries her hardest to resolve disputes amicably before she takes the gloves off.  But when she does, her award-winning research, writing, and argumentation background as a Law and Policy scholar comes out.  She loves to advocate for her clients and help where she can.  She also helps Hawaii homeowners with evictions, partitions, real estate disputes, probate matters, indigenous law issues, and quiet title.  Lockey also has a rapidly growing beankruptcy practice making her a rare "one stop shop" for legal advice on Hawaii Island where she can really help clients to evaluate and pursue all options to solve their problem, whether it be litigation, settlement, or bankruptcy.. As for former tech CEO, entrepreneur, temple president, and grassroots organizer she advises small businesses, start-ups, non-profit and religious organizations on various legal matters in addition to Hawaii property owners on real estate law matters.  In her free time Lockey is a goat and chicken hobby farmer and an abstract painter.  You can see her art at .
