Douglas R. Williams is an experienced maritime attorney at BoatLaw, LLP, where he focuses on representing injured seamen. Doug grew up in a military family. He spent much of his youth aboard cruise ships where his father served as chief medical officer for major lines like Holland America and Disney Cruise Line after retiring from the armed forces. This early exposure gave him a practical understanding of the maritime industry. Doug earned his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University and graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University College of Law; he obtained top honors in Admiralty Law and admission into the Order of the Coif for his scholastic achievement.. Doug began his legal career with the prominent maritime litigation firm in Tampa, Florida, handling casualty litigation, maritime liens, and charter disputes. He played a key role in significant cases, including Atlantic Sounding Co. v. Townsend, which strengthened seamen’s right to punitive damages on maintenance and cure claims. After relocating to Washington in 2011, Doug joined BoatLaw, LLP in 2012 (then Anderson Carey Williams), dedicating his practice to maritime injury cases.
