About Michele Anderson-West
I grew up in a small-town of 2,500 people in Milton, Wisconsin. I started my legal career as a legal secretary in Elkhorn, Wisconsin while attending college at the University of Wisconsin. Utah has been my home since 1997 after moving to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah College of Law. My daughter accompanied me to my first year of law school and I had the privilege of becoming a mother again during my second year of law school. Thereafter, my daughter and son played active roles in my education.. My law practice focuses on civil litigation in the areas of employment law, business law and contract negotiation and disputes. I represent both employees and employers in areas that include unemployment appeals, discrimination, wage and hour claims, sexual harassment, hostile work environment, wrongful termination, whistleblower claims, employment contracts, non-compete agreements, OSHA whistleblower claims, contract disputes and litigation defense.. In this time of shelter-in-place mandates, social distancing, massive layoffs and unemployment, many of you will need to apply for Unemployment Insurance. Often times, your employer will interrupt the process telling the Utah Department of Workforce Services you should not receive unemployment. If this happens to you, I have the expertise to help you navigate the appeals process.. I have successfully represented individuals and business owners in federal court, state court, administrative hearings and through alternate dispute resolution in Utah and throughout the United States. I am passionate about the rule of law, civil rights and due process. I joined Stavros Law, P.C. in 2016 after running the OSHA Whistleblower Program at the Utah Labor Commission.. Thank you,Michele Anderson-West
