For over twenty years, Marilyn Rowley and her team have advised, designed, customized and formalized the signing, witnessing and notarizing of thousands of legal planning documents including living trusts, wills, health care power of attorneys, property power of attorneys, living wills, special needs trust, children’s trust, marital trusts, credit shelter trusts, IRA trusts, Medicaid planning trusts, asset protection trusts, insurance trusts, limited liability company formation documents, partnership formation documents, business planning documents and real estate transfer deeds.. Training. Ms. Rowley attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, attaining her Bachelors Degree in Finance from the College of Business which ranks 5th among Business Schools through out the country, including Ivy League Universities.. At DePaul College of Law, Marilyn Rowley concentrated her legal education on highly technical, transactional courses and was the only student in her class to complete the entire series of the technical Federal Uniform Commercial Code Courses. In addition, she had the prestigious honor of being selected for an Internship with the Honorable Judge Coar, a Federal Bankruptcy Judge in the Northern District of Illinois, researching federal law, legal case law and writing legal opinions.. Upon graduation from Law School, Ms. Rowley took the Bar Exam, a written test that determines whether a candidate is qualified to practice law, scoring among the top 2% of approximately 2,000 Bar Exam test takers.. Community Service. To further educate and reach out to the community, Marilyn Rowley served as an adjunct faculty professor, teaching college credit courses on Law including topics on estate transfers, probate and real estate. Presenting over 250 hours of lectures, she was consistently rated with the highest ranking of “Excellent” for her teaching from the college.. In addition, to further educate the legal community, Marilyn Rowley taught Estate Planning Basics to Illinois licensed Attorneys. The course, which she wrote and presented, was evaluated and approved by the Supreme Court of Illinois as a credited Continuing Legal Education Course for Illinois Attorneys. Upon review, the course was 100% recommended by her attorney peers.. Media. As a guest on local television and radio programs, Ms. Rowley has discussed today’s legal topics including avoiding probate, living trusts, real estate and transfer issues.. Other Training and Business Experience. Prior to law school, Marilyn Rowley was employed as a Flight Attendant for American Airlines, selected within a group of 1% of over 200,000 applicants from through out the country. Stationed in New York City, her major route flown was New York to California. In addition, Ms. Rowley worked as a Financial Broker’s Trade Assistant at the Chicago Board of Trade.. Ms. Rowley has personally utilized her finance and legal expertise, purchasing, profitably selling and maintaining fourteen real estate properties with a market value of over four million dollars. In addition, Ms. Rowley had attained her Real Estate Broker License and Title Agency Certification. Ms. Rowley harnessed these skills by acting as the real estate broker, title agent and/or attorney, on the business transactions. Her experiences of inspecting the physical condition of properties, negotiating the purchase and sales price, evaluating market value, reviewing title histories, analyzing potential rents for long term and short term leases, preparing and negotiating leases, finding reliable tenants, forming limited liability companies for asset protection, acting as general contractor for rehabbing, hiring and managing sub-contractors has given Marilyn Rowley a certain edge, appreciation and understanding of the unique needs of business owners..
