James E. Toner, Esq. was born and raised on Long Island. He was a graduate of  Chaminade High School's class of 1985.  He earned his BBA at Hofstra University in 1989, and his Juris Doctorate at the Hofstra University School of Law in 1992. Mr. Toner began his trial career during  his second year of law school as a Certified Legal Intern at the Miami –Dade County Public Defender’s Office obtaining his first “Not Guilty” verdict on a felony jury trial. After graduation he continued his career as a criminal defense lawyer at the Nassau County Legal Aid Society defending the  indigent accused. Mr. Toner’s tenure at Legal Aid honed his skills as a trial lawyer representing a high volume of Felony and Misdemeanor cases. For the last twenty years Mr. Toner has continued his passion for criminal law at his present address in Mineola directly across the street from the Nassau County Court where he has spent many days litigating the most serious crimes under our laws. He has successfully trialed many cases including but not limited to Homicide, Medicaid Fraud, Robbery, Burglary, Domestic Violence, Grand Larceny, Assault in the First Degree, Money Laundering and Narcotics Trafficking. Mr. Toner has also successfully tried numerous personal injury cases including a multi-million dollar law suite for Brain Trauma Injury. He has recovered millions of dollars for his clients over the last twenty years. Mr. Toner is admitted in the Appellate Division Second Judicial Department and the Federal District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of New York. Mr. Toner is a qualified member of the Nassau County Assigned Counsel Plan, a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association. In October of 2013 Mr. Toner was appointed the Village Attorney of the Incorporated Village of Manorhaven. He also sits as a duly appointed Member of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the Inc. Village of Sea Cliff.
