Edrick Jay (E.Jay) Overson is the owner of Overson Legal & Mediation, PLLC, located in Cedar City, Utah. He has been licensed as an attorney since October 2010, and he primarily practices in criminal defense, family law, contracts, private guardian ad litem work, and mediation. He is a litigator and spends a majority of his time defending clients in court, but is also experienced in motion practice, preparing legal documents/pleadings, interviewing clients, legal research, consultations, mediation, and the like. Throughout his time in practice, E.Jay has also served as the Beaver County Public Defender during multiple calendar years (2012; 2015-2018; 2021-2022), where he represented and served indigent clients in Beaver County in the following five (5) courts: Fifth District Court, Fifth District Juvenile Court, Beaver Justice Court, Milford Justice Court, and Minersville Justice Court. Prior to becoming licensed, E.Jay successfully passed the 2010 July Utah State Bar Exam on his first attempt.. E.Jay obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Michigan State University College of Law (MSUCOL) in May 2010. At graduation, E.Jay also received a certificate from the Geoffrey Feiger Trial Practice Institute, which is an intense litigation program at the law college. Out of hundreds of applicants each year, only thirty-two (32) students are accepted for the two (2) year program each year. Prior to law school, in May 2006, E.Jay obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Utah University, with a Major in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Psychology. Growing up in Cedar City, Utah, he was also a graduate from Cedar High School in 1999, where he received his high school diploma.. Another notable achievement/accomplishment of E.Jay Overson is that he served a two (2) year LDS mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Bacolod Philippines Mission, which comprised two islands (Negros Occidental and Panay) from June 2002 to August 2004. While serving his mission, E.Jay was given the opportunity to serve in many leadership capacities (Assistant to the President, Zone Leader, District Leader, Trainer, Senior Companion). He also learned two (2) Filipino dialects fluently (Cebuano, Ilonggo).. E.Jay and his wife Ann Elise have three (3) wonderful daughters, Lauren; Jasmine; and Roslyn. His family loves living in southern Utah, where they enjoy spending time together and taking advantage of the beautiful scenery around Cedar City.
