Brian E. Sevin, Sr., has more than twenty-two years of litigation experience before Louisiana state district and appellate courts, as well as federal district and appellate courts throughout Louisiana. Given his breadth of experience, Mr. Sevin provides a full range of pre-litigation, litigation, and transactional services to his clients, and is committed to providing prompt, responsive, and resourceful representation.. During his years of practice, Mr. Sevin has represented individuals, small and large businesses, and political subdivisions, in all manner of civil litigation, including public entity governance and regulation, general business litigation, consumer and commercial debt collections, domestic litigation, real estate litigation, complex title disputes, land use and zoning, labor and employment defense, collective bargaining disputes, toxic exposure defense, First Amendment litigation, trademark infringement litigation, and maritime defense. His practice also included litigating regulatory issues and federal claims, and taking appeals on behalf of political subdivisions to the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and to the United States Supreme Court.. Mr. Sevin has also represented local, regional, and national insurers, self-insured retention groups, third party administrators, and insureds in defense of claims for personal injuries and property damages, in cases involving commercial tractor-trailers, workers compensation, commercial general liability, general automobile casualty, parade and special event liability, industrial liability, subrogation rights, and municipal entity liability. In this capacity, Mr. Sevin has tried cases before both federal and state juries, and handled cases involving multi-million dollar claims.. As a veteran litigator, Mr. Sevin has also written numerous appellate briefs and applications for supervisory and remedial writs to all Courts of Appeal for Louisiana, the Louisiana Supreme Court, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. In addition, Mr. Sevin has argued appellate matters before the First, Fourth and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeal in Louisiana.. Mr. Sevin also provides various business and transactional services to both private and public corporate entities. In this capacity, Mr. Sevin has often represented these clients in a general counsel capacity, and advised on matters including private and public corporate governance, intragovernmental relations, state and federal regulation, First Amendment issues, real estate conveyance, tenant and landlord issues, telecommunications regulation, employee benefits, and collection law.. Mr. Sevin has also practiced before various administrative law venues, including the Social Security Administration, various zoning authorities within the New Orleans metropolitan area, and trade union arbitration boards.. Mr. Sevin is admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Jefferson Parish and New Orleans Bar Associations, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and has served as an Assistant Examiner for the Louisiana State Bar Exam.. Mr. Sevin received his Juris Doctorate from Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1992. Prior to that, he received two Bachelor of Arts Degrees, in Economics and Political Science, from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1989. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, he also attended Jesuit High School in New Orleans, and returned to the metropolitan New Orleans area to practice following law school.. Mr. Sevin enjoys spending time with his growing family, which includes his wife, Kimberly Sevin, and their five children. With his wife and children, Mr. Sevin has been active in numerous competitive youth sporting leagues, and in his children’s school and church communities. The family continues to work and live in the New Orleans metropolitan area.
