Kevin recently settled a case for two Army Chief Warrant Officers injured when their Apache Longbow attack helicopter crashed in Tikrit, Iraq. It is the largest known settlement for soldiers in a case stemming from the war in Iraq ($13.55 million). Kevin was co-trial counsel in the recent Dominguez v. City and County of San Francisco, which resulted in a $27.4 million jury verdict for the wrongful death of a 4 year-old girl and injuries to three others. San Francisco completely denied liability but the jury found it to be 100% liable. That case was named one of the top 10 verdicts in America by numerous publications. In a recent 12-month period, Kevin tried three cases to jury verdict and obtained three verdicts, each over $10 million: Witham/Garcia v. Avjet ($10.2 million verdict for non-economic wrongful death damages plus finding of punitive damages [and $11.7 million subsequent settlement]); Wu v. Singapore Airlines ($15 million verdict for non-economic wrongful death damages in a damages-only trial in federal court); and Marx v. Storage Technology Corp. ($13 million--$3 million compensatory wrongful termination verdict, plus a $9 million punitive damages verdict, plus a $1 million attorneys fee award).. Kevin Boyle is currently one of the lead attorneys on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee the Burlington Northern train disaster cases as well as on the Los Angeles Metrolink train derailment cases. He recently finished his duties on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committees for the cases involving the crash of Alaska Airlines 261 off the California coast and the crash of Singapore Airlines flight 006 in Taipei, Taiwan. Kevin recently represented a small company called Positive Ions, Inc. in a trademark infringement suit against media giant Ion Media Networks (formerly Paxson Communications), which settled for a confidential amount while the defendant’s CEO was testifying during trial.. Prior to founding Panish, Shea & Boyle, Kevin Boyle was an attorney with Santa Monica's Greene, Broillet, Panish & Wheeler. Before that, Kevin served the country as law clerk to the late Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist of the United States Supreme Court and, before that, to Judge Melvin T. Brunetti of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Kevin has also practiced on the defense side with the Washington, D.C. office of Kirkland & Ellis.. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Kevin Boyle studied law at the University of Arizona. He finished law school first in his class, served as the Business Editor of the Arizona Law Review, and published an article concerning manufacturers' duties to retrofit defective products before they cause further injury.. Kevin is an active member of a Board of Governors of the American Association of Justice (formerly ATLA) NLD. Kevin is on the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers of Los Angeles. He is also a member of the Amicus Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Kevin is an editor of the ABA's Aviation Law Quarterly. Kevin Boyle is an active member of the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles and the Consumer Attorneys of California.
