Why did you become an attorney? The underlying education was the primary reason for the desire to first become an attorney. Obviously, to make a good living and enjoy what you do is the ultimate career. I found that becoming an attorney was half the battle; becoming a great litigation attorney involves mastering the art of legal persuasion, which is best acquired by trial experience and years of training. The reward of client satisfaction and obtaining a great result on a difficult case truly gives me great satisfaction. Growing up, I had a very strong influence with my Father, Joseph L. Benson, Sr. who was also a personal injury lawyer (recipient of the 2011 NJA Nevada Lifetime Achievement Award). He was instrumental in my decisions throughout my young adulthood and early law practice.

She couldn't watch insurance companies and shady lawyers take advantage of people who trust them. Injury victims deserve What’s Right.. What does a divorce attorney do for fun? They go to criminal court to work on misdemeanors and felonies. At least that is what Meredith used to do. Meredith started out practicing primarily in criminal defense, although her practice areas expanded to include personal injury, and business law. Eventually Meredith’s exclusive focus was divorce and custody.. Meredith was born and raised in Las Vegas. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology at American University in Washington, D.C., Meredith switched gears. She moved to San Diego to complete her law degree at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2009. It was more fun that I was expecting. After the first competition I sort of got the bug and entered more. Now, most mornings are spent working out at the gym.. What are your top 3 favorite movies? Pretty Woman, because every girl loves a fairytale love story. Something’s Gotta Give, so witty! Beaches, it’s a beautiful story of true friendship, and that’s hard to find.. How did you meet your husband? We met in high school, and I wanted nothing to do with him. Years later, the same friends who introduced us in high school had a party and invited us both. I still wanted nothing to do with him, but he was persistent!. Most memorable case to date? I represented an older Korean woman in a misdemeanor when I first started criminal practice. She was a volunteer bus driver for her church when she was involved in a car accident where the opposing driver died. At sentencing, after my argument, the entire congregation who came to court on her behalf stood up and clapped for me! It was embarrassing but made me feel like I was appreciated.

Tristan F. Rivera is a founder and an injury attorney for the Rivera Law Group. Tristan does not just have experience like most other attorneys. He has experience that matters.. His diverse background allows him to not only endear himself to each and every client, but also enables him to successfully navigate personal injury claims from their inception to trial.. Tristan was born in Zamboanga City, Philippines, but spent most of his early childhood in Northern California – in Oakland and then, Stockton. The details of his time in California are sketchy, but being raised by immigrant parents, he learned the value of hard work, perseverance and a good fight. It was here that he also learned the art of the hustle.. Once graduating from law school, a local insurance defense firm hired Tristan and he went to the dark side to defend prominent Las Vegas nightclubs and casinos in the courtroom. While working for the insurance companies, Tristan learned the ins and outs of their tactics - knowledge that he now uses to the advantage of his personal injury clients. He knows full well what it takes to make insurance companies pay.. Equipped with this insider knowledge, Tristan successfully transitioned to a law firm where he exclusively represented personal injury plaintiffs against the corporations he had previously defended. Working at this fast-paced environment, he discovered his passion for fighting for the rights of the victims of negligence. Tristan’s clients will tell you that his devotion to personally address their concerns is surpassed only by his passion to get them the results they deserve.. Tristan’s interests extend beyond personal injury. He is involved with Las Vegas Rescue Mission and commits his time to supporting local and national efforts to raise funds and awareness for cancer research.. In his spare time, Tristan makes an effort to go to the gym in a vain attempt to recapture his youth. At one point, he was even an amateur boxer. Being a lawyer, however, has robbed him of the luxury to turn up to work with a black eye, so instead of his fists, he now fights with his mind.. He wins.
