I primarily handle business disputes and complex personal injury cases, such as nursing home neglect/abuse, medical malpractice and other matters involving serious injuries. I spent the first eight years of my practice with a firm that defended insurance companies and their insureds, which included individuals, small private businesses and large public corporations, but I now represent individuals and businesses who have been harmed by others.
I moved with my husband to Middle Tennessee from Virginia to attend Nashville School fo Law. While in law school, I worked in the Public Defender's Office and gained valuable experience in criminal defense work. Upon graduating and passing the bar exam, I joined a law practice in Ashland City, Tennessee. I worked there for 3 years before opening up my own practice in Nashville. I love litigating and advocating for my clients.
I moved to Nashville in 2011 after graduating law school. I'm a solo Criminal Defense attorney, handling anything between minor drug possession and violent felony charges. I believe each case should be handled individually, because each client is an individual with their own history, experiences, and goals. My practice is client-focused, with utmost importance placed on making sure my clients feel that they are in as much control of the direction their case is headed as is humanly possible. I pride myself on maintaining a steady line of communication with clients at all times.. I live in West Nashville with my wife, two dogs, and cat. In our free time we enjoy biking, camping, hiking, canoeing, and playing board games.
I joined Raybin & Weissman in August 2009 as a receptionist while I was in my first year of law school at Nashville School of Law. Within a year of joining the firm, I became the legal assistant for David Weissman – a position I held until I graduated law school in 2013. After passing the bar, I was hired as an associate for the firm where I focus on personal injury law and domestic law.. I am originally from Memphis and I graduated from Rhodes College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While at Rhodes, I was a student-athlete as well as a student-trainer. I hold several records in basketball and had an opportunity to play basketball overseas in Iceland after graduating college. However, I turned down this opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming an attorney.. Outside of the office, I love cheering on the Green Bay Packers, watching sports and playing anything sports related.
I have practiced Personal Injury Law in Tennessee for the last 17 years. During that time, I have worked over 10,000 car accident cases and reached resolutions by settlements, bench verdicts, and jury verdicts. I have also worked general negligence cases, such as cases for victims of dog bites and victims of dangerous conditions on property. My firm is different from some other firms because of the way we communicate with clients. Some firms use employees to handle most of the communication with their clients. Our firm is different because your lawyer will handle most of the communication with you. If you have been the victim of a car accident, please give us a call. We truly want to help you through this difficult time, even if you decide that we aren't the right firm for you.
I have been taking on insurance companies and big business for nearly twenty years, representing injured families and groups of families. I have been providing excellent representation to clients in state and federal courts since moving to Nashville more than 18 years ago. After completing law school at Duke University in 1999, I joined the Office of the Public Defender, where I advocated for clients from General Sessions Courts to the Tennessee Supreme Court, earning numerous verdicts of not guilty. From 2004-2010, I served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Middle District, earning numerous dismissals and verdicts of not guilty in federal court. In 2010, I entered private practice as a partner at Jones Hawkins & Farmer, PLC, where it was my privilege to work with some of the finest lawyers in the country. I began my own law practice in downtown Nashville in 2015, where I continue to fight hard for my clients, in cases ranging from misdemeanors to the most serious felony cases and investigations.

I have been practicing employment litigation defense (exclusively on the company/ management side) for 17 years now with the same firm (Constangy)- which seems crazy. Over those many years, I’ve learned employment law creates a strange world, and partly because of that, I can’t imagine doing anything else. I'm not one for touting all the credentials that almost every other employment-defense attorney out there probably also has, but I guess just for the record, I should verify that yes, yes, I’ve handled a zillion (give or take) employment litigation cases, including class/ collective actions, I’ve taken tons of depositions, have taken about 10 cases through trial, and have argued some on appeal, too.In terms of me, personally, I grew up in rural Arkansas, lived/ traveled in various spots in the U.S. during college/ law school, and finally settled in Nashville when I came to Constangy 17 years ago as a "baby attorney." I am now married to a Missions Pastor and a mother of 3 -- two boys and a little girl we adopted from Ethiopia in 2011. I am passionate about adoption and am always happy to talk to people who might be interested in going down this path!. I am also passionate about mentoring young attorneys/ professionals, and ensuring that (especially) women have a strong network. I firmly believe there is such a thing as work-life balance! But I also recognize part of my theories on that is that I work for such an amazing firm and with such amazing people.
I have been an employment and civil rights attorney for over 20 years. I am a first-generation college graduate from Flint Michigan, the daughter of a proud UAW family, and I believe that everyone – no matter who they are or where they’re from – deserves respect and dignity in their work.. Let me help you win your case!

I had been a high school science teacher and an infantryman in the Army before I went to law school, so I know the value of a hard-earned dollar. I respect that my clients work hard for their money, so I don't waste it or their time. I place a priority on providing cost-effective legal and mediation services. Fighting for what's fair shouldn't be a luxury reserved for a select few or bankrupt someone.. I try to bring a creative perspective to legal problem-solving and dispute resolution, where "we've never done that before" is no excuse. My diverse experiences have broadened my perspective, both as an attorney and as a person, and continues to do so. Practicing law is part of my life, it's not the whole thing, and I think that makes me a better attorney and better able to understand and help my clients.
I grew up in Dothan, Alabama and graduated from Auburn University in 1985. I have lived in Nashville since 1986 and I love it! I love to travel, even if it is just to the beach for a long weekend. I like being outdoors and love to take long walks with my labradoodle, Stella, for exercise. I am married to attorney Phillip Miller and we share office space in a beautiful Victorian house on Woodland Street in Nashville...very convenient to the Courthouse, and free parking! My favorite thing about practicing family law is that I get to help people work through very difficult situations, and I am result-oriented...If you are in the process of a divorce or are considering a divorce, I urge you to focus on the solution instead of the problem...and hire a lawyer who will do the same!
I grew up all over Central Arkansas but now call Nashville my home. I was raised in a single-parent household that struggled to make ends meet. My mother worked two jobs and did her best, but our family (like many others) fell prey to the extreme difficulties of poverty. I know the battle that lower income households face every single day, and witnessed firsthand how poverty coupled with addiction can tear families apart.. Because of my childhood experiences, I knew from an early age that I wanted to escape the system holding my family down. I had a strong desire to serve my community and felt a need to help others. So, at the age of seventeen, I enlisted in the military and continue to serve to this day. During my first enlistment, I was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, as a Combat Medic, and it was in this capacity that I truly learned how to work under extreme pressure. Continuing my career in the military has allowed me the opportunity to gain exceptional leadership experience, discipline, and the resiliency needed to be successful in life.. After Iraq, I wanted to get back to a “normal” life and focus on going back to school. In December of 2011, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, with an emphasis in Criminology, and a minor in Addiction Studies. From there, I worked in social services with the Arkansas Dept. of Human Services. After three years of grueling work, I felt unfulfilled and knew that I could be doing more. It was at that point I decided to apply for law school.. I have been practicing law since 2018 and, prior to opening my firm, I was a Deputy Prosecutor in Garland County. As a prosecutor, I handled felony and misdemeanor cases involving a variety of charges such as drugs (possession, paraphernalia, intent to deliver, etc.), DWI/BWI, theft of property, and violent crimes—just to name a few. I left the prosecutor’s office because I realized I had a greater calling to help families in my local area and assist those accused of crimes, not prosecute them.. My greatest calling in life, however, is being a mother and spouse. My family is my bedrock and the foundation that supports all that I do. I am truly blessed beyond measure.
I graduated from law school in 2008 and began my legal career at a large law firm, handling complex commercial civil litigation. After seven years at the firm, I decided that I wanted to take my career (and my life) in a very different direction and, so, I accepted a position as a judicial law clerk to a federal district court judge. It was a true honor to work behind the scenes in federal court and really rounded out my knowledge of the legal system. After my two-year term as a law clerk came to an end, I was presented with the opportunity to a domestic law and civil rights firm here in Nashville. Then, in the summer of 2019, I launched my own law practice, Morris Family Law, PLLC, and I look forward to serving clients and being a member of the Nashville legal community for many years to come.. Throughout my legal career, I have had the privilege of working on many high-profile matters, often with large monetary judgments at stake. Nothing is more rewarding, however, than working on the highest-stakes matters there are - your family law matters. As someone who has been through the family court not only as an attorney but also as a party, I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to fight for yourself when your whole world is coming undone. I want to use not only my legal expertise but also my life experience to fight for you. Whether you are facing a divorce action, child custody dispute, domestic violence situation, or even the more routine task of drafting an estate plan or prenuptial agreement, I recognize that you need not only legal representation but also someone who will be by your side every step of the way to guide you through the process and be your voice.. I hope you will consider calling me for your legal needs.
I focus my practice on acquiring intellectual property, patent opinion practice and enforcing intellectual property rights. I have a wide array of experience prosecuting patents domestically and internationally, and I conduct freedom to operate opinions and invalidity opinions applicable to the United States and other countries. I primarily prosecute patents in the life sciences and medical devices fields and provide trademark counsel for clients operating in diverse sectors.. Prior to moving to Nashville and joining Patterson Intellectual Property Law, I clerked with , Inc. in Seattle, WA in its Intellectual Property Acquisition and Investments group. My technical background is in the life sciences. During law school, I completed an externship with Carnegie Mellon University’s technology transfer office. Prior to law school, I was a laboratory technician for one of the world’s largest medical device and diagnostic companies.
I firmly believe in client service and partnering with businesses to add value. I have extensive experience in representing health care professionals and entities on a wide variety of complex regulatory issues. I have a strong interest in health care public policy and I have spoken at many seminars on health care reform proposals and the new PPACA legislation. I am a Middle Tennessee native and life long resident.
I can assist you in your personal injury, car accident and/or workers compensation claims. The foundation of my practice is tailoring a plan for each client to fit the needs of each case and believe my 25 plus years of experience can serve my clients well.
I believe in the power of strong attorney-client relationships, and I make every effort to foster open and honest discourse with my clients. Empathy is a key quality in lawyers; the last thing a client needs while struggling through a complex legal situation is to feel judged by their legal representative. I demonstrate compassion when meeting privately with clients, but I can be very aggressive in court.. The right Nashville attorney can make all the difference as you seek reduced criminal charges, a clear driving record, a clean criminal record, or if you’re simply seeking an attorney driven to serve your best interests. Regardless of your legal goal, you can count on me for high-quality legal support in Nashville and surrounding areas. Get in touch today to learn more
