Blechman Pro Bono Service Award.  I worked hard at UF, earning the highest grade in six (6) different courses and degree certificates in Community Service, Criminal Justice, and Pro Bono Legal Work.  To this day, I am one of only a handful of attorneys ever to be inducted into both the National Order of Barristers and the Florida Blue Key National Honor Society upon graduation.. My name is Geoff Hoatson and I’m the founder of the Family First Firm. I grew up in Central Florida surrounded by all my extended family. Both of my grandfathers were veterans of World War II and my paternal grandfather received the Purple Heart and Silver Star from Fleet Admiral Nimitz for his heroism as a medic on the Pacific Front. I gained a deep respect for our service members and my elders, while listening to them recount their time in the service. I knew that I wanted to help these people I admired so much. Unfortunately, over the years, both grandfathers ended up with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. My paternal grandfather was able to be qualified for Medicaid and my maternal grandfather was able to receive benefits from the VA. To call these benefits a blessing is a massive understatement; they allowed both of my grandmothers to age in their homes with dignity.. Born and raised in the Orlando area, I attended a local high school and then the University of Central Florida. It wasn’t until I went to Emory University for law school that I left Central Florida for the very first time. However, that choice was an easy one, because Emory is ranked as one of the top law schools in the country and has one of the preeminent estate planning programs. My legal career began at the Orange County Public Defender's Office in February of 2005, where I worked for 9.5 years.  At the time I left in 2014, I was an attorney in the major crimes division, handling only first and second degree murder cases.  I left to start a firm with two partners, but a little over a year later, one partner needed to dissolve the firm, so I formed a solo practice to finish out my criminal cases.  I am proud to be back at the Public Defender's Office as of August 2016, helping those who cannot afford to hire an attorney.. Now that I am back at the Orange County Public Defender's office, I am not available for hire.  My clients are appointed to me based upon the charges and what judicial division the case is assigned to.  Appointed clients and their families still want to know about the attorney handling the case, so I hope this profile can provide that information and help everyone feel good about me when the client did not have the choice of picking me for representation.. My great grandfather, Eugene Malone, started a law firm in Central Illinois which my father, Richard James "Jim" Lannon, Jr., managed prior to being appointed Judge on the 13th Judicial Circuit, in and for LaSalle County, Illinois. My Aunt, M. Catherine Lannon, was the head of the Administrative Law Division of the Florida Attorney General's Office for 33 years after clerking at the 1st DCA. My cousin, Laura C. Lannon, served as a prosecutor for Cook County, Illinois (i.e., the Chicago metropolitan area) prior to her untimely and unfortunate death. You could say that being an attorney is in my blood.. Born in LaSalle, Illinois in 1974, my family moved to Dedham, Massachusetts when my parents divorced in 1984. I attended school in Massachusetts from 4th grade to my senior year of college, having graduated from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester in 1996. For the next 4 years, I worked as a sales representative for BellSouth Advertising & Publishing Corporation in Tucker, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. Being a sales representative prepared me for being an attorney, for it is far more difficult to sell a product or service to an unwilling buyer than it is to demonstrate to a jury or a judge why your client's position in the lawsuit is meritorious, or why your client deserves to win, and why your client deserves to be compensated (i.e., paid damages).. Quince at the Florida Supreme Court for 2 years. I then worked at the 8th largest law firm in the world at the time in its Central Florida Litigation Practice Group handling commercial litigation and appeals. I left that Am Law 100 firm to work at an intellectual property litigation boutique before serving as the Deputy City Attorney in Palm Bay, Florida for 2.5 years. I was thereafter promoted to City Attorney, a position that I held for 7 years before founding my law firm.

Mr. Guidry graduated, with Honors, from St. Louis University School of Law in
1993 with his Juris Doctor,  a Masters of Business Administration, and
his Bacholor's Degree was in Accounting.  Mr. Guidry began his criminal
defense career at the Orange County Public Defender's Office in 1993,
under the wonderful supervision of then elect Public Defender Joseph

Mr. Bennett is Florida Bar Board Certified in Construction Law and practices law with Bennett Legal Group, P.A. in Orlando, Florida. He is an expert and specialist in construction law. Michael LaFay Trial Attorney graduated from the American University Law School in Washington, D.C. in 1983. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1984 and the Florida Bar in 1985. Michael J. Damaso, II is a Personal Injury Attorney who was born in Tampa, Florida in 1979. He graduated from the Barry University School of Law in 2005.. While at Barry University School of Law, Mr. Damaso was the President of the Student Trial Advocacy Team and competed in several mock trial competitions both on a statewide and national level. In 2004, he was a finalist in the Chester Bedell — Florida Bar Competition. In 2005, Mr. Damaso’s team won the American Association of Justice Regional Competition, defeating schools from across the southeastern United States. While a member of that same team, he was a semi-finalist in the American Association of Justice National Competition that same year..
