Erin received her Juris Doctor degree on May 13, 2011 from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, and passed the July 2011 Utah Bar Exam.. Erin first entered the legal field in April 2006, as a paralegal for the law firm of Bearnson & Peck, L.C. in Logan, Utah. Up until leaving the law firm in July 2008 to attend law school, Erin assisted each attorney of Bearnson & Peck in drafting estate planning and business documents. Erin returned to Bearnson & Peck as a Law Clerk between her second and third years of law school in 2010, and accepted a position as a law clerk with Bearnson & Caldwell, LLC when the firm opened its doors. Erin is now an Associate Attorney with Bearnson & Caldwell after receiving her license to practice law. She now practices in the areas of Worker's Compensation, Social Security Disability, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Commercial Litigation, Family Law, Criminal Defense, Landlord/Tenant Law, Business Entity Formation, Commercial Transactions, and Estate Planning.. During law school, Erin participated in several internships and clinics, including the following: the Pro Bono Initiative’s Guadalupe Legal Clinic; the Pro Bono Initiative’s Family Law Clinic; a Judicial Clinic with Judge Bruce Lubeck in the Third District Court of Utah, Silver Summit; a Civil Clinic with Guardian ad Litem in the Third Judicial District of Utah; and a year-long Prosecutor Clinic with the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office.. Erin obtained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Utah State University, with a minor in History, in addition to a Certificate in Law and Constitutional Studies. Erin received her Juris Doctor degree on May 13, 2011, passed the July 2011 Utah Bar Exam, and was sworn into the Utah Bar on October 31, 2011.. Erin was born in Coos Bay, Oregon and was raised in western Washington prior to joining the United States Marine Corps immediately after graduating high school. After completing her contract with the Marine Corps, Erin moved to Logan, Utah to attend Utah State University. Erin met her husband, Troy, in 2005, and they have remained in Logan where Troy was raised. In her free time, Erin enjoys camping, hunting, four wheeling, knitting, zumba, and spending time with her family and friends.

I was born in the Territory of Alaska, grew up in Logan, Utah and graduated from Utah State University with degrees in economics and Spanish in 1978.  During high school I lived for a year in Quito Ecuador, and during college I served a two-year mission in Spain for the LDS Church.  After finishing law school in Washington, D.C. in December of 1980, I returned to Logan and engaged in private practice, mostly litigation, for five years, with mentorship and guidance from my father, David Daines, Sr.  From 1985 to 1997 I practiced in Houston, Texas in a variety of settings, engaged primarily in civil litigation.  I returned to Logan again in 1997 and have continued in private practice, civil litigation, but this time with a focus on serving clients in contested family law cases.

Peter is one of the top up-and-coming young lawyers in the state. Raised in Layton, Utah, Peter was named by the Standard-Examiner as among the top 2% of Utah’s high school seniors. After graduating from Brigham Young University, Peter attended Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden, Connecticut, where he graduated with Honors. While at QU, Peter was repeatedly ranked at the top of the class.. In addition to his current practice, Peter’s practical experience includes serving as extern corporate counsel for Shiseido, one of the world’s largest cosmetic corporations, and clerking for federal criminal appellate counsel.  He has extensive experience in family law matters.  He enjoys feeling like he has made a difference helping his clients with their domestic case needs.  He has practiced in courts all along the Wasatch Front, from Logan to Provo.. Peter is an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and Scouter. While at BYU he helped establish Camp Kesem, a weeklong summer camp for children whose parents have or had cancer, and is always looking for ways to give back to the community. He has a wonderful wife, two amazing sons, and two beautiful daughters.

Attorney Eliza Van Orman was admitted to practice law in the State of Utah in 2009 and has been practicing almost exclusively in the area of family law ever since. She earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees and a law degree from the University of Utah.  During law school Eliza completed an internship with the Office of the Guardian ad Litem, representing abused and neglected children, and earned  honors for pro bono work in free legal clinics.. After law school Eliza was awarded a Dean’s fellowship and worked for two small Utah firms before accepting aposition with Legal Aid Society of Salt Lake, where she represented low-income clients in divorce and custody cases. She joins the Burton Law Firm team with extensive experience and knowledge that helps her excel at domestic cases.  She has a passion for helping clients which shows clearly in her work.. When not working, Eliza loves spending time outdoors hiking, camping, backpacking, and skiing.  She also loves reading fiction and spending time with family.

Mark graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2004. After earning magna cum laude honors from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2008, Mark spent two years clerking for three state court judges in Provo. Seeing every case from the judge’s point of view helped Mark gain a perspective he would not otherwise have had, learning, for example, just how much judges appreciate a respectful demeanor and being candid with the Court. Mark also worked for more than ten years focusing extensively on fathers' rights. He now uses that experience to help both his male and female clients, knowing what works best from both sides as they navigate through the court system. Mark has successfully argued cases throughout Utah, in both district and juvenile court.. Mark is skilled at dealing with all aspects of family law, including helping clients obtain modifications, enforce court orders, and achieve fair custody and support awards. Going through a painful divorce or a custody battle can be one of the most difficult times in someone’s life, and Mark is there to help every step of the way. He understands that some cases call for a resolution through mediation, and others require court intervention, and he helps his clients make the best decisions possible for their case. Throughout the process, Mark strives to be available to answer any questions about his clients’ cases and to provide candid counsel. Mark puts his clients’ interests first.. Mark loves spending time with his wife and four boys. He enjoys basketball, golf, movies, and spending time outdoors, and is an avid Utah Jazz fan.
