Growing up in Oklahoma, I was frequently invovled with children and education. Apart from the usual babysitting, I was also very involved helping with my mother's first grade classroom. I attended Booker T. Washington High School, which is a nationally recognized magnet school. After graduation, I attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an associated minor in Philosophy from UNM. I began attending the University of Denver College of Law in 2000, from which I received my Juris Doctorate in 2003.. I did not take the traditional path to becoming an attorney, however. After graduating from the University of Denver I moved to Dillon, Colorado. Prior to becoming a dedicated family law attorney, I was a children's snowboard instructor for Breckenridge Ski Resort for four years. I returned to Denver in 2008 to briefly work for a personal injury firm. I did not find that personal injury was a good fit for me. I began doing intern work for Colorado Legal Services/Metro Volunteer Lawyers in 2009. This is where I received my introduction to family law. I began working for myself in 2010 and have not looked back.. I truly am dedicated to helping people through their divorces, custody issues and all other aspects that involve family law. The cases are seldom easy from an emotional standpoint. Being a mother, myself, to three young children I understand the heartache that can result from having to share custody of your children. However, I also understand the importance of having both parents being invloved in the children's lives. I offer caring and zealous representation and promise to never stop doing my very best for Colorado families.

I graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. After clerking in the Colorado Court of Appeals for a year, I became a prosecutor in Colorado’s 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. I spent most of my nearly 20 years there prosecuting persons crimes, i.e. crimes where a person was victimized, such as assault, robbery, sexual assault, child abuse, and murder. I spent nearly 10 of those years prosecuting crimes against children. I can say, unequivocally, that I am one of the most experienced trial lawyers in Colorado.. I began my private practice career in 2015 at Gutterman Griffiths (later Griffiths Law). On November 1, 2020, two of my former partners at that firm and I opened a new law firm, WZW Family Law LLC. We brought two associates, four support staff, and five full caseloads with us into our new (ad)venture.. As a family law attorney, it's been my privilege to deal with some of the most complex and interesting assets out there, including stock options, restricted stock units, other deferred compensation, a private equity fund, partnerships in national and international accounting firms, thousands of acres of farm and ranch land, an aviation business, real estate and restaurant development businesses, law firms, law suit proceeds, medical practices, and a whole host of different kinds of trusts. My clients have ranged from “captains of industry” to stay-at-home spouses.. Because of my focus on persons crimes, I spent nearly every day working with victims of violent and traumatizing crimes, who were under enormous emotional stress when they met with me. My clients, and my colleagues, have told me that they value my ability to be calm in the face of emotional upheaval.. I became involved in Collaborative Divorce early on in my private practice career. I became qualified to handle collaborative divorce cases before I’d been a family law attorney for a year, joined the Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals (CCDP) shortly thereafter, became a Board Member for the organization in late 2016, served as its Executive Vice President in 2017, and President in 2018.. My background and experience are rare in the family law bar. Very few lawyers spend nearly every day of their career in court. No collaborative divorce attorney in the state has the trial background and skills that I have.. I bring all of my abilities to bear in everything I do for clients, from negotiating and settling cases to presenting evidence and making argument in a courtroom.

That is why I am so honored to be able to dedicate my practice to helping people deal with family law issues.. My brother Todd and I started Scardina Law, LLC because we wanted families to have a resource that didn't measure success by the amount of money earned but by the outcomes achieved. A family business dedicated to helping families navigate through difficult times with dignity. I strive every day to help all my clients see that they are stronger than everything they were taught to fear. I have been practicing entirely family law for almost 3 decades now. Family law became my focus early on just because there were a lot of people who came to my office with those kind of matters. I learned that I liked this area law because I was not afraid of the emotions that go along with it. As a business owner, a mother and a wife, I understand the things parents have to juggle on a daily basis. Adding a legal proceeding to the mix can feel overwhelming. The most important thing I can do for my clients is to protect their interests in a legal proceeding so they can continue to focus on their children and their jobs.. I litigate divorce cases from the simple to the complex. I have handled countless motions hearings and trials all over the metro area. Determining income and cash-flow, tax consequences and valuing of real estate, personal property and businesses are a regular part of my practice. Child custody and parenting time disputes can be ongoing. I represent many new and returning clients in modifying parenting time and child support. I partner with CPAs, therapists and other professionals to get the best results for my clients.. I have active licenses in Minnesota and Colorado. Our two offices allow me to handle a steady stream of interstate divorce and family cases.. I received my bachelor’s degree from UCLA and my law degree from Hamline University School of Law (now Mitchell-Hamline School of Law). I was a law clerk in the 3rd judicial district in Minnesota for a year right after law school. After my clerkship, I was an associate for small and medium law firms in Minnesota and California. I completed advanced training in Family Law Trial Advocacy through (NITA) and I have 40 hours of training in family law mediation.. I like to volunteer. You can find me at the military veterans legal clinic and domestic relations self-help clinics around the metro area. I am a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) helping kids in the foster care system. My husband and I are former foster parents.. I am a member of:• Minnesota Bar Association -family law section• Colorado Bar Associations-family law section• W.O.L.F. (Women Owned Law Firms) a fantastic group of lawyers in Colorado
