A Virginia native, Maryam graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice. She taught legal writing and analysis and served as a student mentor. Maryam also worked as a judicial intern in the Chambers of the Honorable Rossie D. Alston in the Court of Appeals of Virginia, where she gained insight into the appeals process of domestic relations cases.  She also interned at Legal Services of Northern Virginia, where she worked in the Family Law department, serving low-income clients.  Later, she successfully litigated cases as a student attorney in a Fairfax family law firm.. Upon graduation from law school, Maryam served as a Law CLerk to the Honorable Craig D. Johnston in the Prince William County Circuit Court.
